Set Time BMI Acrylic 500 Fine Finish is completely cured in 21 days. During the cure time the finish must be protected from severe weather conditions and
from potential abuse from other trades. High humidity and low temperatures will extend cure time.
Waiting / Recoat TimesBMI Acrylic 500 Fine Finish will be dry to touch within 1-4 hours. Waiting time is dependent on temperature, humidity, and film thickness.
Consumption
CoverageOne coat coverage: 280-300 ft2 (26-28 m2) per pail. Aggregate size: 0.5 mm.
Normal coating system is one coat. Coverage figures do not include allowance for surface profile, porosity, material waste and suction.
Application Steps
MIXINGMix with a drill mixer and jiffler paddle or similar paddle. Do not exceed 400 rpm when mixing or the product could be air entrained which will increase "pin-holing" and decrease bonding characteristics. If finish is not factory tinted, add liquid color to the pail of finish. Make sure all the color is added by rinsing out the color vial with water into the pail. Up to 16 ounces of clean potable water may be added to BMI Acrylic 500 Fine Finish until desired consistency is achieved.
APPLICATIONBMI Acrylic 500 Fine Finish should be applied with a clean plastic float or a stainless-steel trowel. A plastic float will roll the large aggregates more than a stainless steel trowel and may cause swirling. Continuously dry clean the plastic float or steel trowel while texturing. Use consistent pressure and motion to achieve the desired texture. Enough material should be applied to cover all surfaces. Always apply BMI Acrylic 500 Fine Finish in a continuous application, working to a wet edge to avoid cold joints. Finish material with a plastic float using a "figure 8" pattern. Avoid water drops and runs on uncured material. Variations in color tint should be expected. For spray application, spray with consistent motion, pressure, distance and spray angle to achieve a consistent texture. A job-site mock up for spray application is advised.
CLEANING OF TOOLSWater soluble prior to drying. Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use.
