MIXING

Mix Design

  • The following typical mix design shall only serve as a guide.
  • Pretesting of the admixture with the local cement is a must.
  • Product performance shall be established and monitored to ensure compliance with the requirements.
  • Variance in cement can produce a shift in expected results.

Mixing

  • Mixing should be in accordance with the PTI Guidelines as stated in section 5.6.1 (Second edition).
  • The following order should be followed for adding the ingredients: Water, Approx. 50 % cement, SikaGrout® Aid Plus, and remaining cement.
  • The water to powder ratio should be targeted around 0.28-0.30.
  • Mixing shall be of such duration so as to obtain a uniform homogenous mixture without excessive temperature increase. Typical mixing time range from 4-6 minutes.
  • Optimum performance of the admixture in a grout shall be obtained by using high speed drill with a 2,000-2,500 rpm drill a or colloidal mixer like ChemGrout CG 600.
  • Method of mixing may significantly effect the grout properties, particularly flow.
APPLICATION
  • All pumps and hose fittings should be absolutely watertight to prevent loss of water and subsequent clogging.
  • Be sure your batches are limited in size so that placement can be completed approximately in one hour.
