Evolon Acoustics - Microfilament Absorption Material
While up to now thick and heavy materials have been used, Evolon®s microfilament structure provides very efficient sound absorption, with a minimum thickness and a weight reduced by 10 to 30 times. It can be used as a composite under-layer, or converted to acoustic drapes, blinds and curtains.
Evolon® is a unique microfilament fabric combining very good textile and mechanical properties. Like traditional microfiber, it is soft, drapable and light, but it is also very strong at the same time.
Being dense with its compact fibre structure, Evolon® has very good barrier and filtration properties. Thanks to its internal microfilament structure, it is very absorbent, but also quick to dry and breathable.
Evolon® is washable and primarily aimed at durable applications.
Last but not least, converters can finish, dye, print, cut and sew Evolon® as any traditional textile.
The Evolon® technology is a unique, world-wide patented textile manufacturing process.
- Polyester and Polyamide chips are spun into endless segmented filaments
- The filaments are uniformly laid on a belt
- Thanks to high pressure water jets, the filaments are split into microfilaments
- The water jets simultaneously tightly entangle and consolidate the microfilaments , creating a fabric: Evolon®.
