Foster® 81-27 FIBROUS ADHESIVE
FOSTER® FIBROUS ADHESIVE
Foster ® Fibrous Adhesive is a sodium silicate based incombustible adhesive for bonding calcium silicate and expanded perlite thermal insulation to itself and to non-porous surfaces. It offers maximum adhesion and optimum working qualities and it forms a hard, brittle, incombustible film.
Fibrous Adhesive can also be used for lagging high temperature alkali resistant cloth on high temperature insulation.
Nuclear Grade Fibrous Adhesive 81-27Q can be supplied to meet the stress corrosion and chemical analysis requirements of MIL-I-24244C or Nuclear Regulatory Guide 1.36 on special order.
Fibrous Adhesive contains no asbestos, lead, mercury, or mercury compounds.
Fibrous Adhesive meets requirements for LEED IEQ 4.1 Low-Emitting Materials, Adhesives and Sealants. VOC: 0 g/l, less water and exempt solvents.
Store and apply between 40°F (4°C) and 100°F (38°C), protect from freezing until dry. Since the dry adhesive film is soluble in water, it should not be used where moisture will be encountered. Because of its sodium silicate base, this product is not recommended for use with glass fiber or other alkali sensitive insulations. Primed or painted metal surfaces should be tested for compatibility. If used between impermeable surfaces, drying time will be extended.
