Our best-insulated residential garage doors feature two layers of steel surrounding a thick layer of foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation. But along with delivering great thermal efficiency, our Classic Steel garage doors boast great looks, too.

Our Classic Steel garage doors are engineered for superior performance and gorgeous, easy-care living. High-end features make them:

  Heavy-gauge steel wraps around end caps and door edges for a better appearance, greater strength and to protect polyurethane foamed-in-place insulation. Silent glide nylon rollers with solid steel shafts ensure your classic steel garage doors will provide years of smooth, quiet, dependable operation. Wind load options with structural reinforcements are available for coastal areas and high-wind areas.
• Thermally Efficient
  While Model 8300 features an impressive U-factor of .15 (R-value of 12.12), Model 8500 is our highest insulated residential garage door with a U-factor of .12 (R-value of 16.22) thanks to polyurethane foamed-in-place insulation. Our quiet Classic Steel garage doors can help improve your home’s thermal efficiency and block street noise. Snug tongue-and-groove section joints reduce wind and keep weather from entering the garage.

  An upgrade to the optional 25,000-cycle spring delivers more than twice the life of a standard torsion spring.

Classic steel garage door Models 8300 and 8500 are available in four stylish design options-Short Panel, Long Panel, Vertical Short Panel and Flush Panel. Model 8300 is also available in Vertical Long. Doors come in four-panel 8’x7’ and five-panel 8’x8’ sizes. Ask your Wayne Dalton representative about other sizes.

Choose Your Finish

Your classic steel garage doors can be finished in one of six signature colors-White, Almond, Sandstone, Terra Bronze, Brown and Black. Wood Grain Impressions™ are available in Flush Panel and Wood Grain Impressions™ Bi-directional Finishes are available for Short, Long, Vertical Short and Vertical Long panels. Choose from Western Cedar, Carbon Oak and Medium Oak. If you’d like, you can upgrade your finish from more than 6,000 TruChoice® custom colors.

Wood grain embossment

Wayne Dalton does not warrant product with black finish against warping, rubbing or other issues associated with thermal bowing. Dark finishes are not recommended for areas that experience high heat and/or high UV conditions.

Wayne Dalton offers an incredible selection of window panels to enhance your Classic Steel garage doors. Choose from 9 Short panel options, 30 style choices from Vertical Short, 23 selections from Long and Vertical Long panels and 33 from Flush. There are additional options for double car garage doors.

Furthermore, you can specify horizontal or vertical window placement, as well as, an all-window option. Whether you envision your Classic Steel garage doors with arched topper or a tidy row of panes up high, a dramatic vertical column or windows integrated from top to bottom, we’re here to help you bring your vision to life-and light!

Choose Your Hardware

Inspired by the artisanry of traditional blacksmiths, our decorative hardware collections lend a distinctive, yet subtle touch of individuality to your garage doors. Hinge straps, pull handles and other accent pieces inspired by the Old World and early Americana add a touch of rustic elegance to your Classic Steel garage doors.

Knockers, corner brackets and clavos are a respectful nod to the decorative nails and studs craftsmen have used to accent doors for centuries. Every piece is forged from black powder-coated steel finished with a hand-hammered look.

Decorative hardware kits for our Classic Steel Garage Doors come with four hinges and two pull handles. Double car doors come with two sets of decorative hardware kits. Additional accent pieces are available to match or complement each collection. Pull handle fit in center stile is dependent upon design and size of door.
