Water Reducing and Workability Retaining Admixture
Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 is a workability retaining admixture for use in concrete applications. This product meets the requirements of ASTM C494, Type A & S.
Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 is unique concrete admixture used to control workability and slump retention of freshly mixed concrete. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 contains the latest time released polycarboxylate polymer technology, allowing controlled slump extension depending on project needs and actual concreting conditions. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 typically does not significantly increases slump of the concrete mixture once introduced and properly mixed, but rather maintains concrete consistency for an extended period of time, resulting in a “Flat” slump life performance. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 can be successfully used in various concrete applications, specifically whenever extended slump retention and concrete plasticity without set time delays is required. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 is engineered to maximize product performance and to deliver desired consistency across the wide variety of cementitious materials available on the market. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 is not a retarding admixture. Use of Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 offers the following benefits to a concrete producer:

Usage
Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 can be used in conventional, high slump, and Self Consolidating Concrete mixes, for precast/prestress, ready mix, or in any application when extended concrete plasticity without retardation is required. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 does not extend slump life through slowing down hydration process of cement. Due to utilization of a new engineered time released polymer allowing controlled and consistent slump extension with minimum initial slump increase, Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 allows to transport freshly mixed concrete for larger distances without need of re-tempering at the job site. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 works as a slump retaining admixture, not as conventional water reducer making it more user friendly with more predictable performance over time. This becomes a benefit in cases when time between concrete batching and concrete placement is inconsistent. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 can be used as a stand-alone additive or in combination with any Sika concrete admixture.

Product Information
Shelf LifeShelf life when stored in dry warehouse conditions between 40 °F and 80 °F (5-27 °C) is 1 year. Protect from direct sunlight. If exposed to direct sun, color fading may be observed. Color change does not effect the performance.
Storage ConditionsSika ViscoFlow®-2020 should be stored at above 40 °F (5 °C). If frozen, thaw and agitate thoroughly to return to normal state.

Application
Application Information
MixingFor maximum efficiency, add Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 directly to freshly mixed concrete in the concrete mixer after all batching water and water reducing admixture has been added. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 may also be dispensed into freshly mixed concrete in a Ready Mix truck. It is preferred to add Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 at the concrete plant but job site addition is also possible. To optimize the slump retaining effect, Sika recommends that the combined materials should be mixed for 80-100 revolutions either in the concrete mixer or in the Ready Mix truck.
Combination with other admixtures: Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 can be used as a single admixture or in combination with other water reducing admixtures produced by Sika. If used with products based on naphthalene sulfonate, plastic properties such as slump, slump retention or pumpability of concrete may be affected. Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 can be used in combination with other supplementary cementitious materials. In such a case performance of actual mix design should be verified to confirm accordance with project specifications.
Consumption
Recommended DosageDosage rates of Sika ViscoFlow®-2020 will vary according to materials used, ambient conditions and the requirements of a specific project. Typically, Sika recommends dosage at 2-8 fl. oz. per 100 lbs. (130-520 ml/100 kg) of cementitious materials for general concrete applications. If maximum slump retention is required dosage up to 15 fl. oz./100 lbs. (975 ml/100 kg) of cementitious may be used. Dosage rates outside the recommended range may be used where specialized materials such as microsilica are specified, extreme ambient conditions are encountered or unusual project conditions require special consideration.
Verification of mix performance with actual materials is always highly recommended.
