Drycast Admixture

SikaMix® PL-100 is a blend of surfactants and water reducing polymers in an aqueous solution used in the manufacture of drycast concrete products. When added into the concrete mix it acts as a manufacturing aid to speed production and enhance product appearance and strength. SikaMix® PL-100 contains no calcium chloride or any other intentionally added chloride containing ingredients. It will not initiate or promote the corrosion of steel in contact with the concrete.

SikaMix® PL-100 is an integral concrete densifying admixture that acts as a cement dispersant and reduces the use of water. Some of its benefits are:

• Machine productivity will be increased by more rapid filling of form and mold boxes.
• The internal lubricating properties of SikaMix® PL-100 reduce the wear on machinery and extend machine life.
• Provides a better form swipe on drycast products.
• Lighter colors will maintain a more uniform, consistent shade and general product appearance will be improved.
• Edges on pipe and block will be sharper, more defined and less likely to chip.
• Improves early and final strength of concrete.
• Improves compactability.
• Reduces breakage and culls.
• Extends life of molds and machine parts.
• Enables the use of pozzolans as a cement replacement while providing similar strengths and workability.
• Reduces the need for higher curing temperatures while maintaining early strengths.

Compatibility with Cement and Admixtures: SikaMix® PL-100 is compatible with most admixtures manufactured to ASTM Specifications and most pozzolans.

Usage

SikaMix® PL-100 is recommended for use in all production sizes of concrete block and pipe manufactured by drycast or packer-head methods.

Shelf Life

Shelf life when stored in dry warehouse conditions between 50 °F and 80 °F (10-27 °C) is one year.

Storage Conditions

SikaMix® PL-100 is an aqueous suspension. If settling occurs, the material may be restored to its original condition by agitating thoroughly. The material should be protected from freezing and stored above 40 °F (5 °C). If frozen, thaw and agitate thoroughly before use.

Application Information

Mixing

Add the correct amount of SikaMix® PL-100 at the batch plant. Add manually or by automated dispenser into the water line. Do not mix with dry cement.

Consumption

Recommended Dosage

SikaMix® PL-100 is recommended for use at a dosage rate of 2-6 fl. oz. per 100 lbs. (130-390 ml/100 kg) of cement. SikaMix® PL-100 is not recommended for use in the manufacture of high-slump or wet-cast concrete pipe.
