High Range Water Reducing Powders - Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P
HIGH RANGE WATER REDUCING POWDERED SUPERPLASTICIZER
Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P is a third generation high range water reducing and superplasticizing powder admixture for use in concrete and mortar formulated to provide a longer working life. It is based on Sika’s patented ‘ViscoCrete®’ polycarboxylate polymer technology.
Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P is a unique, specially formulated polycarboxylate powder that combines different mechanisms and is compatible with a variety of cement chemistries. Through surface adsorption and steric separation effect on the binder particles, in parallel to the hydration process, the following advantages may be observed:
- Effective when utilized with cements that have high C3A, sulphate and alkali content.
- Effective when utilized with ordinary portland cements (OPC) and blends of OPC and aluminate cements.
- Compatible with other additives (i.e. citric acid).
- Extremely high water reduction (resulting in high density and strengths).
- Excellent flowability (resulting in greatly reduced placing and compacting efforts).
- Increased high early strength development.
- Improved shrinkage and creep behavior.
- Low absorption time.
- Provides a longer workable life.
- Ideal for use in self-leveling, self-compacting applications.
Usage
Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P may be used in a variety of concrete applications but is especially suited for the production of mortar and concrete dry mix. Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P facilitates extreme water reduction, excellent flowability, optimal cohesion, and promotes excellent self compacting behavior. Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P is recommended for the following applications:
- Grouts in general.
- Non Shrink Grout.
- Screeds in general.
- Self levelling Screeds.
- Gypsum and Anhydrite screeds.
Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P has been formulated to provide maximum water reduction however is suitable and may be utilized for all levels of water reduction. Can be combined with other ViscoCrete® powders to attain maximum effects such as flowability and retardation.

Application
Application Information
MixingSika® ViscoCrete®-125 P is added to the dry mix at the beginning of batching cycle. For optimum utilization of the high water reduction it is recommended to allow a minimal wet mixing time of 30 seconds. Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P is highly effective as single added admixture or in combination with other Sika admixtures. If used in combination with certain Sikament® water reducing admixtures plastic properties can be affected.
Consumption
Recommended DosageDepending on the application, the dosage of Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P varies from 0.05 to 0.5% of the powder weight. At high Sika® ViscoCrete®-125 P dosage can cause retardation as well as at low temperatures.
