Flat Hand Hole Lock - Heavy Duty
The EMT Flat Heavy Duty Locking Hand Hole Cover is built for light poles that get hit repeatedly. It uses thicker steel and stronger hardware than our standard flat cover, and its shielded puck lock hides the mounting bolt to help restrict access to the copper wiring inside.
Made for poles that are flat around the hand hole, in rectangular and obround shapes. A good fit for parking lots, parks, and street lighting with repeat theft or vandalism.
Key Features - 1/4″ Steel Cover - Twice the plate thickness of the standard flat model, with a powder-coated finish for outdoor use.
- Reinforced Mounting System - An internal bracket and 3/8″ stainless-steel bolt secure the cover from inside the pole.
- Puck Lock Included - Conceals the mounting bolt and restricts access to the locking hardware.
- Built-In Slide Stops - Help prevent the installed cover from rotating.
- Keyed-Alike Options - Request matching locks for your property or fleet.
- Custom Sizes and Colors - Contact EMT for options suited to your application.
Description How the Heavy-Duty Hand Hole Lock WorksThe EMT Heavy-Duty Flat Hand Hole Lock replaces a standard access cover with a locking steel cover that helps protect light pole wiring.
The reinforced bracket passes through the opening. Tightening the 3/8″ stainless-steel bolt draws the bracket against the inside of the pole and holds the cover against the exterior seating surface. The puck lock then conceals the bolt head to restrict unauthorized removal.
This model uses a 1/4″ steel plate, compared with the standard model’s 1/8″ plate. It is an option for sites seeking heavier construction where theft or tampering is an ongoing concern.
Correct fit matters: the cover must seat flush, and the opening must provide enough clearance for the bracket and slide stops.
Applications Heavy-Duty Protection for Light Pole Access OpeningsConsider this model for locations facing repeated theft or tampering, including:
- Streetlights and roadway lighting
- Parking lots and commercial properties
- Parks, campuses, and sports facilities
- Industrial and warehouse exterior lighting
Check the surface around the opening-not just the overall pole shape. The cover must sit flush, and the reinforced mounting bracket and slide stops must fit correctly.
