Durable Rolling Grilles for Security
Need to securely separate two spaces but still need airflow and visibility? Our Rolling Security Grilles are your answer. Our durable Rolling Security Grilles keep areas off-limits, require little to no maintenance and can be configured to meet your desired aesthetic.
Custom built to an exact opening size, the commercial-duty design is durable, requires little-to-no maintenance and offers ease of repair with readily available parts. Install these overhead grilles as a storefront grille, at service window openings, in schools, malls, restaurants, healthcare settings and more.
We offer several different overhead grille models, with different material options. Multiple opening sizes, as well as straight block or staggered brick patterns make the rolling grille variations practically unlimited. Our security grilles can be powder coated in nearly 200 stock colors as well as custom options and upgrades such as flame retardant polycarbonate inserts to prevent theft of small articles.
For convenience, the security grille curtain stores in an overhead coil supported by the guide extensions for an out of sight, compact storage solution. The security grille is also removable with a manual release system. This feature satisfies building safety code exit requirements by providing a wall-mounted pull handle that disengages the motor so the grille can open partially for egress.
When you need to protect areas from unauthorized access, intrusion or theft but don’t want to limit visibility or air flow, our rolling security grilles are the perfect solution.
Benefits of Security Grilles
A high-quality security grille is a powerful tool with many benefits for your facility:
Intrusion deterrence:
Security grilles immediately warn criminals that your facility is not an easy target. Most thefts are opportunistic, so would-be intruders will likely seek easier alternatives. Cost-effectiveness:
Security grilles are not high-maintenance. They operate mechanically and require less upkeep than many other more fragile types of shutters, helping you save money. Aesthetics:
Security grilles are often preferable to alternatives like perforated shutters because they allow people to see in and out. They also allow natural light to pass through the window.
Grille Door Lock Options
The main locking options available for our security grilles include:
Guide mounted interlocks:
A guide mounted interlock uses an electrical cutout switch to prohibit the motor from operating before the user has disengaged the locking device. Padlockable slide bolts:
A padlockable slide bolt has a strike equipped with angled ends. These angled tips allow the latches to receive the bolt even if the security grille becomes misaligned. Padlockable chain keepers:
A padlockable chain keeper holds a chain operative connected to the driving mechanism behind a chain hoist system. Masterkeyable cylinder locks:
A master keyable cylinder lock allows security grille owners to create a single key that can open several cylinder locks. Most master key systems group locking cylinders together based on their locations, such as a particular wing of a building.

Standard Materials and Finishes
Standard materials and finishes change based on curtain option selected.
Options
Aesthetics
Chain Diverter for MGH Operators
This option moves the auxiliary chain out of the clear opening and to the side of the door - enabling free movement through the door and making a chain bag unnecessary.
Fixed Panels
Grille curtain can be mounted in a fixed frame assembly. It can be installed separately, or installed near a rolling grille curtain to complement the aesthetics. Often used in parking garages.
Hood and Operator Covers
Metal cover to protect the coil or operator from exterior weather, debris or to meet OSHA or UL 325 safety requirements.
Powder Coating Grilles
Powder coat finish in more than 180 colors is available on perimeter components such as the aluminum bottom bar, hoods, wall angles, tubes and fascia. This finish is not available on the grille curtain.
Trim Package
In applications where exterior aesthetics are important, such as hotels, condominiums, convention centers and parking garages, the addition of a trim package can cover unsightly hardware and contribute to the building's architecture.
Grille Curtain Construction
VISIONAIRE Open Curtain - Straight
An open curtain design with straight rows and columns. Available in 9”, 6” or 3” vertical chain spacing.
VISIONAIRE Open Curtain - Brick
An alternative open curtain design that allows air circulation and full visual access of the area being protected. Curtain is constructed with offset rows and columns that resemble traditional brick - horizontal 5/16" diameter solid aluminum rods at 2" centers. Rods supported by heavy duty aluminum links, held in staggered position by tube spacers throughout the entire curtain assembly.
VISTAGARD™ Glazed Panel
An option available for increased protection from theft of small articles through the curtain, the VistaGard is constructed of clear 12" x 3", 1/8" thick Lexan® (or equal) panels. The flame retardant poly carbonate panels are secured by bronze color molded nylon links attached to 5/16" diameter solid aluminum horizontal rods of alloy 5056 H32, creating a barrier against refuse, odors and smoke.
Performance Upgrades
Vibration Isolators
Vibration Isolators effectively reduce the amount of vibration* caused by operation of doors and grilles.
*Vibration was reduced by 14% on doors and grilles with Vibration Isolators installed compared to doors and grilles without the system.
LED Light Kit
The LED Light Kit provides a high-visible status indication for overhead doors and grilles. Designed for challenging environments like fire and emergency services, parking garages, and warehouses, the effective LED light strips limit downtime, maintenance, and repair costs.
Magic Switch
A touchless activation device designed to open and close doors with the wave of a hand. It's compatible with all operators that have a primary entrapment device and are configured for momentary contact to close. The Magic Switch is easy to retrofit in an existing application and features a clean, stainless steel face plate.
5015 Grille High Cycle Construction
The 5015 grille can be upgraded to a special higher-cycle construction to last up to 100,000 cycles. For grilles requiring more more than 50 cycles per day or a 300,000-cycle lifetime, we recommend the Extreme 300 Series Grille.
High Cycle Springs
Heavy duty springs manufactured to withstand cycles of 100,000.
Seismic Performance Validation
We can provide project specific seismic calculations for all coiling doors that are mounted Face of Wall to steel or masonry. Seismic performance validation is per ASCE 7-05.

Sensing Edge
Smoother Installation and easy maintenance:
Designed with a flexible black rubber TPE material, our new sensing edge has two fins that conform to variations in the floor on both the interior and exterior of your door or grille. This ensures a secure seal without requiring you to overset the bottom door limit. The new sensing edge is easy to clean and remains free from rust and dirt stains, maintaining a fresh uniform appearance.
Edges are tested and listed to UL 10B as a component of the rolling steel fire door assembly.
Stronger weather protection:
Featuring flexible 1" sealing fins, our sensing edges withstand the elements, providing maximum protection
SafetyGard UL325 Approved Light Curtain
A UL325 approved non-contact primary entrapment device that prevents damage to an object in the door’s pathway in addition to minimizing damage to the closure itself.
Entrapment Protection Devices
Entrapment protection devices ensure that a motorized door or grille will not close on an object. If an object enters path of closure, the entrapment protection device will stop the door or grille from closing and return it to the fully open position.
Guide-Mounted Interlocks
An electrical cutout switch to prevent motor operation if locking device is not first disengaged.
Locking - Security Grilles
A wide variety of locking options are available to meet your security needs.
Manual Release System
If egress is required on a motorized grille, a wall mounted pull handle disengages the motor to allow the grill to partially open.
Unique Design Solutions
Combination Doors
Combine two different slat profiles in the same curtain. Typically, a standard slat is combined with a perforated slat or even rolling grille for ventilation and security.
Countertops
Countertops are available for a complete counter shutter closure solution, and can be UL rated.
Mullions
There are multiple mullion options - corner, fixed and removable.
Sloping or Irregular Openings
Our special bottom bar designs can address these conditions.
