Firemiser Insulated Rolling Fire Door
Our Firemiser rolling door offers all of the life safety benefits of a rolling fire door along with the energy efficiency and sound reduction of an insulated rolling door.
This insulated fire door will close in the event of a fire, acting as a physical barrier to prevent smoke and flames from spreading throughout the building. By keeping the incident isolated, both lives and property are protected.
The insulation used in this door is made of mineral wool, which helps to decrease sound transmission - with an R value of 5.3 and a U Value of .189 based on the ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals. The mineral wool also minimizes thermal transfer, which helps to keep the climate controlled air inside and the uncontrolled temperature outside.
A Firemiser insulated fire door is ideal for an application that is on the exterior of a building but may be expanded in the future or an area that requires a fire door but also needs the sound deadening benefit of an insulated door.
Our insulated roll up fire door is UL listed, Factory Mutual Approved and listed with the California Office of the State Fire Marshall. It is listed with a protection ratings of 45 minutes, 90 minutes, 3 and 4 hours.
The SmokeShield® seal package is available on model number ERD21. This option is added if you are required to conform to UL 1784. This seal package is an additional barrier that will eliminate the migration of smoke through the building.
Mounting Options
Insulated fire doors can be installed face of wall or between jambs on an interior or exterior wall. Acceptable wall types include masonry, structural steel jambs and drywall construction with structural steel or wood studs.

Safety and Protection
Sensing Edge - Entrapment Protection Device
Designed with a flexible black rubber TPE material, our new sensing edge has two fins that conform to variations in the floor on both the interior and exterior of your door or grille ensuring a secure seal without requiring you to overset the bottom door limit. The sensing edge is easy to clean and remains free from rust and dirt stains, maintaining a fresh uniform appearance. With flexible 1" sealing fins, our sensing edges provide maximum protection while withstanding the elements.
Edges are tested and listed to UL 10B as a component of the rolling steel fire door assembly.
To determine the best entrapment device for your application, check out our Entrapment Device Protection Overview document.
Entrapment Protection Devices
Entrapment protection devices ensure that a motorized door or grille will not close on an object. If an object enters path of closure, the entrapment protection device will stop the door or grille from closing and return it to the fully open position.
Guide-Mounted Interlocks
An electrical cutout switch to prevent motor operation if locking device is not first disengaged.
Rolling Door Protector (RDP)
The RDP eliminates costly fork truck damage to coiling doors by creating a physical barrier at the top of the door that absorbs impacts.
Static Wind Load
Can be configured to withstand the full range of specific wind load requirements including missile impact ratings.
Performance Upgrades
High Cycle Springs
Heavy duty springs manufactured to withstand cycles of 100,000.
Seismic Performance Validation
We can provide project specific seismic calculations for all coiling doors that are mounted Face of Wall to steel or masonry. Seismic performance validation is per ASCE 7-05.
Fire Specific Options
Battery Back Up Devices
Available for motor, chain and crank operators, these devices prevent fire doors from closing from a power failure.
Firefly & Firefly BB Release Device
Optional device that ties in to a building alarm system and closes a Simple-Test fire door upon alarm activation, rather than by melting its fusible link.
SmokeShield® Seal Package
Often required by local building codes, our smoke seal adds smoke and draft control.
Testing Stations
Safely and conveniently test and reset the functionality of the fire door at floor level. May be flush or recess mounted.
SmartSync Wireless Safety Edge Kit
SmartSync™ Wireless Safety Edge Kit & Wireless Remote Control
The Smartsync™ Safety Edge Kit is an upgrade for our existing Safety Edge. This allows for wireless communication between the transmitter and the receiver, eliminating the coiling cord in the door opening.
The Smartsync™ Wireless Remote allows wireless control of your door or grille. This heavy-duty remote comes equipped with an anti-shock design and is compatible with most motor-operated doors, grilles or counter doors.**Not compatible with NEMA 7/9 operators.
