What is Insulated Glass?

Ballistic insulated glass is made by creating air space inside sealed layers of glass. Our DEFENDER line offers not only protection from forced entry but acts as a ballistic barrier, providing high-level protection when seamlessly integrated into your building’s design. We test our insulated glass to both Level 1 UL 752 bulletproof standards and UL972 forced entry standards, guaranteeing that will stop assailants in their tracks and protect people from harm.

UL Level 1 standards require that glass is able to withstand rounds from small-caliber handguns, with ammunition such as a 9mm full metal copper jacket with lead core. This type of bulletproof glass is typically used in corporate headquarters, schools, hospitals, retail stores, and small businesses. We test our DEFENDER glass to these standards and offer it in two thickness options: 1 1⁄4" and 1 1⁄8" (for existing frames or TSS ballistic storefront frames). It can also be customized with tinting and Low E enhancements.
