Renson ZipShade® Exterior Sun Protection Shades

The Renson ZipShade® is the ultimate value in exterior sun protection since it performs several functions, including sun, wind, and bug protection. The secret is in the locking zipper side channel. Originally created for Japanese bullet trains, when speeding though tunnels pushing a shock wave of air that would blow roller shades out of their side channel. Now perfected for exterior use, the zipper fabric lock keeps the shade flat and smooth, and seals the edges keeping bugs out. It can even keep golf balls from breaking windows.

EXTERIOR SHADES KEEP THE HEAT OUTSIDE

Exterior shades have several advantages over placing shades on the interior.

  • The main and most rewarding benefit of exterior shading is that the heat stays outside. As the sun strikes a surface that energy can create heat, which is obvious with dark things like asphalt, but even a white interior window shade can radiate heat. Any heat generated by an exterior shade stays on the exterior, so you can use darker fabric to improve shade visibility without the uncomfortable heat build up.

  • No shade mechanism on the interior. Sometimes window coverings can compete with interior architecture or moulding or trim around windows. Depending on the application, exterior shades may be your answer since you'll only notice the shades when they are down.

  • They'll keep your windows cleaner on the outside. Since shades are typically down the majority of the time for sun protection and privacy, the main unintended benefit is that your windows and mullions will stay cleaner. Every time you do open your shade you'll be looking through beautifully clean glass.
