Genesis OPAL Standard Features The Genesis OPAL Model vertical wheelchair lift is equipped with many standard features. Some of these features are listed below. For a more extensive list of features, contact your local Garaventa Lift Representative or refer to the Genesis OPAL Design and Planning Guide.
- Gates: The lower gate of the Genesis OPAL is mounted onto the platform deck and travels from landing to landing. The upper gate is fastened to the upper landing creating a safety barrier when the platform is not at the upper landing.
- Gate Interlocks: The OPAL is equipped with a durable mechanical interlock system that is electrically monitored. When the platform is not at the landing the mechanical interlock will not allow the gate to be opened.
- Drive System: A choice of two Drive Systems:
- Leadscrew Drive with a 2 HP Motor.
- Hydraulic Drive with a 3 HP Motor - Continuous Mains Power with auxiliary power system.
- Lifting Height: Two different lifting heights to a maximum of 1600mm (63").
- Call Stations: The standard call station is key-less and operates with continuous pressure rocker switches.
- Electro-mechanical Interlocks: These interlocks ensure the gate is closed before travel.
- Platform Controls: Consist of a directional rocker switch with an emergency stop/alarm switch and is key-less.
- Under Platform Safety Pan: Five commercial grade waterproof safety switches will stop the platform should it encounter an obstruction.

Highlights of some of the optional features and descriptions are listed below. For a more extensive list of options, contact you local Garaventa Lift Representative or refer to the Genesis OPAL Model Design and Planning Guide.
- Full Time Battery Operation - Hydraulic Model only: For low usage applications, full time battery operation is available. The drive is powered by a 24VDC battery pack charged from the building mains power by an integrated automatic charger. Continuous mains power is required if the lift is equipped with a fan and ventilation system.
- Battery Powered Emergency Lowering: The Leadscrew model can be supplied with optional emergency lowering system which is automatically activated in the event of a power failure.
- Optional Finishes: Finishes for the Genesis OPAL model include the steel panels and aluminum extrusions to be painted from a large selection of RAL Colors.

When the lift is at the landing, the passenger can press the call station switch or gently pull on the door or gate to activate the door opener. Power door operators are recommended with the lift has a ramp. Certain applications may limit the use of this operator. Consult you authorized Garaventa Lift Representative for which door operator is appropriate for your application.

This option will requirethe building owner to provide and maintain an active telephone line to the mast location.
- Folding Ramp: The ramp is attached to the platform assembly and travels with the platform. When the platform begins to travel upwards, the ramp folds up automatically, clearing the lower landing.
- Stationary Ramp: When the OPAL is installed as a floor mount unit, the lift can be supplied with a landing ramp that will provide a smooth transition to the platform. It is recommended that a Power Door Operator is installed for this kind of installation.
