Excel-Coat® Fire-Rated Traffic Membrane System
- Evaluated and approved as a “Class A” on-hour fire retardant, roof/deck under ICC’s most recent criteria.
- The seamless, waterproofing membrane protects the structure and surface of the roof/deck from the damaging effects of water.
- The waterproofing membrane allows moisture to escape from the substrate without causing the coating to bubble or blister.
- The latex modified cement, reinforced with a galvanized metal lath, provides superior dimensional stability, flexibility and compressive strength to the system.
- The finished surface can be varied to achieve the desired texture and degree of skid resistance.
- The deck coating will not discolor, fade, break down or deteriorate due to direct sun exposure.
- Water-based acrylic components ensure fast, reliable drying times. Each step of the process can receive same-day foot traffic. Ideal for retrofit applications!
- The waterproofing coating will clean up with soap and warm water, or TSP for tougher stains.
- The Excel-Coat® Fire System is available in 20 contemporary colors. Custom colors are also available upon request at an additional charge.
The Excel-Coat Fire System is a "Class A", one - hour fire rated, waterproof membrane composed of a cementitious underlayment and a fiberglass-reinforced, acrylic deck coating system. The system is installed in two stages: installation of the metal lath and underlayment, followed by the waterproof membrane installed in three coats. The first coat provides a waterproof seal and attaches a fiberglass mat to the underlayment. The second coat provides skid-resistant texture, and third coat seals in the aggregate to ensure a durable wearing surface.BASIC USE:
The Excel-Coat Fire System is specifically designed to provide a waterproof wearing surface for exterior and interior pedestrian traffic areas where waterproofing and a "Class A", one hour fire rating are essential. It is ideal for walking decks, balconies and stairways. The Excel-Coat Fire System provides durable protection with ultraviolet light stability and allows for easy maintenance. This system is also excellent for retrofit work.LIMITATIONS:
- Do not apply in constantly submerged conditions such as reflecting ponds or tank linings.
- Not for areas intended for vehicular traffic.
The Excel-Coat Fire System includes an acrylic polymer-modified concrete underlayment (Excel-Crete), a base coat (Excel-Coat #1), a texture coat (Excel-Coat #200), a top coat (Excel-Coat #300) and a Excel-Coat Patching Compound. All resins are suitable for horizontal use. Random chop fiberglass mat offers excellent strength and durability, yet allows penetration of the base coat to ensure complete adhesion.
An alternate texture coat of Excel-Crete K/D and Tinted Additive may be used for increased skid resistance and durability. Excel-Crete Retarder may be added to extend working time of this texture application.PACKAGING:
