Brush seals greatly reduce the infiltration of light, air, wind, rain, snow and other elements into building structures and rooms. They help prevent heat loss and control the penetration of smoke and fumes. Brush weatherstripping also reduces or prevents invasion of pests around door openings.
Pemko offers a wide variety of brush weatherstrip products. The majority of our brush products meet the requirements of ANSI/BHMA 156.22-2003 for latching force and air infiltration. All Pemko brush seals consist of densely compressed nylon filaments encased in high quality extruded aluminum retainers. These products are ideally suited for hollow metal and wood door (door bottom sweep, jamb/header gasketing, and meeting stile) applications. Pemko’s brush weatherstripping products are also very effective when used on overhead doors, sectional doors, sliding doors, and automatic doors.

Astragals and meeting stiles on double doors often present problems because of complex conditions and requirements. Pemko offers solutions ranging from simple and inexpensive to more detailed. Each job should be carefully studied as to the specific requirements when selecting the appropriate gasketing. Note that some astragals consist of two parts, one for each door, and should be ordered accordingly.
Astragals and meeting stiles with a fire label may be mounted on pairs of doors wherein the gap meets the requirements of NFPA 80, 2-3.1.7 “The clearance between...the meeting edges of doors swinging in pairs on the pull side shall be 1/8” ± 1/16” (3.18mm ± 1.59mm) for steel doors and shall not exceed 1/8” (3.18mm) for wood doors.” Many products meet the requirements of ANSI/BHMA 156.22-2003 for latching force and air infiltration.

Pemko offers brush weatherstripping for automatic door bottoms. When ordering, please specify if the automatic door bottom is for a semi-mortise application so that shorter screws can be provided.
