SARNAFIL’S ENGINEERED SYSTEM
The Most Secure Mechanically Attached System Available

Sarnafil’s engineered system is best on roofs that are subject to severe or extreme wind uplift forces, such as high rise buildings or facilities located in coastal areas. The engineered system is Sarnafil’s most secure mechanically attached system available. Our unmatched experience and performance record allows us to offer wind warranties of up to 120 mph on the engineered system.

The engineered system uses a heavy steel bar called a “Sarnabar" that is fastened over the S327 membrane and into the roof deck or structural framing, effectively clamping the membrane in place. The Sarnabar is then covered with a heat-welded narrow strip of pre-cut Sarnafil S327 membrane. During periods of high wind load, the engineered system maximizes the S327 membrane's resistance to tearing and the fastener’s resistance to pullout and backout.

The advantage of the engineered system is that the fastening pattern – both row spacing and fastener spacing within each row – can be customized or "engineered" for any specified wind load. Sarnafil assists the designer to calculate the Sarnabar and Sarnafastener spacings to determine proper resistance to anticipated wind uplift conditions.
