Free Standing Mezzanine
A Free Standing Mezzanine allows maximum movement through and full utilization of floor level and mezzanine level space with no cross bracing between support columns. Free-standing mezzanine structures are available with column spans up to 30 feet.

Catwalk Mezzanine
Catwalk Mezzanine Systems are ideal for increasing the capacity of shelf storage installations. In most cases, the mezzanine can be fastened directly to shelving or rack uprights for deck support members, eliminating the need for free standing columns. When shelving uprights are inadequate, special ClereSpan columns are used to support the mezzanine framing members.

Full Mat Mezzanine
Full Mat Mezzanines combine the features of both the free standing and catwalk styles. Like catwalk, they are installed by utilizing existing shelving uprights for framing support. The mezzanine level area is free to be used for bulk storage, assembly, activities, office space, or many other applications.

Components and Parts:

Standard Bearing Design

• Standard bearing design, the most popular and economical design, utilizes 5” x 5” or larger columns, providing maximum rigidity and strength.
• All primary framing members are mounted directly on top of mezzanine columns inside factory welded support channels, eliminating any dependence on nuts and bolts to support loads.
• Secondary members are supported by a “U” shaped hanger which is welded to the girder, resulting in an extremely strong connection point.
• All framing members are “C” shaped for a tight fit and a uniform, clean appearance.

• The All Bolted “C” section design provides all the benefits of the standard bearing design. Additionally, all framing connections utilize ½” high strength bolts for projects where bolted connections are needed.
• Republic’s exclusive design does not place the bolts in shear, providing exceptional strength and safety.
• 5” x 5” or larger columns are utilized for maximum strength and rigidity.
• “C” shaped framing members provide a tight fit and uniform, clean appearance.

• Wider column spacing with the bolted bar joist design provides additional clear floor space and minimizes column interference with floor operations.
• HVAC duct work, sprinkler pipe, electric conduit and lighting can pass through the structural system, eliminating overhead obstructions and increasing the usable clear height.
• 6” x 6” or larger columns are utilized for maximum strength and rigidity.
• Columns have an erection seat for primary framing members. By eliminating the need to suspend the beam in the air while field bolting, installation is quicker, safer and easier.
• Bar joists are mounted on top of primary framing members and columns for simplified installation. Bottom chords are bolted to the columns for additional stability.
• High strength ½” diameter bolts are used on all joist and girder connections, ensuring maximum strength.
• All perimeter framing members consist of Republic’s standard “C” section framing, resulting in an attractive mezzanine.
• Specially designed handrail posts are easily mounted to perimeter framing outside the mezzanine free of the handrail post and foot plate interference.

Materials and Finishes:
All major steel parts are made from mild cold rolled steel, free from imperfections and capable of taking a high grade enamel finish. Surfaces of steel are thoroughly cleaned and phosphatized in a seven-stage process. All parts are then finished with a heavy coat of enamel baked on at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. Choice of seven standard colors or special color as agreed upon.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Product Specifications:

General Description
Mezzanine to be designed for a uniform live load in accordance with owner's requirements. All specifications, drawings and calculations shall be made under the supervision of a registered professional engineer, who shall be a full time supervisory engineer of the mezzanine manufacturer. Mezzanine shall be designed to meet appropriate national model building code (UBC, BOCA or SBCCI), OSHA or appropriate local building code as may be specified by buyer. Mezzanine shall not be attached to any existing building walls or columns and shall not require cross bracing in any direction.

Framing Members
Framing members (joists and stringers) are to be designed in accordance with AISI specifications for the design of cold formed steel structural members. Sixteen gauge or heavier members shall meet the requirement of ASTM A570-75 Grade E modified to a minimum yield of 50 KSI.

Deck Surfaces
Deck shall be minimum 1-1/2" deep, 20 gauge (heavy duty 18 gauge optional) roof deck meeting requirements of ASTM A611-72 Grade C. If grating is used, deck shall be 19W4 bar grating with 1" x 1/8" bearing bars meeting NAAMM specifications.

Support Columns
Support columns for a totally free standing mezzanine shall meet or exceed minimum values of 5" x 5" x 1/4" cold formed structural steel tubing. Republic support columns meet ASTM A500 Grade B, FY=46 KSI. Columns for a shelving supported mezzanine shall be engineer designed to meet all necessary lateral and vertical loads required.

Stairs and Railing
Stairs shall be solid tread stairs with no tread openings. Stairs and railing shall meet code requirements for rise, tread, width and openings.

Finish
All components shall have one shop coat of any one of six standard colors or special color as agreed upon.

Installation
Installation shall be performed by mezzanine manufacturer trained and/or approved installers.

Experience Level
Mezzanine manufacturer shall have an experience level in the production of mezzanine systems for a minimum of five years. At owner's request, mezzanine manufacturer shall provide owner with location and access to similar type projects.
