DESCRIPTION
DUR-A-GARD Epoxy Coating is a colored two-component, no odor 100% thermosetting epoxy formulation designed especially for flooring applications subjected to moderate traffic, chemicals, acids and areas requiring a safety non-skid surface. DUR-A-GARD Epoxy Coating is ideally suited for application on concrete, wood and metal. This coating is extremely durable, sanitary and easy to clean. The high gloss, tile-like finish is stain resistant and virtually unaffected by oil, grease, gasoline, strong detergents and salt.
TYPICAL USES
- Laboratories

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
(See table on this screen.)
APPLICATION METHOD
Mix 1 part hardener (A) to 2 parts resin (B). After the hardener (A) and resin (B) are combined, the blended epoxy resins are spread uniformly with a notched squeegee or a medium nap paint roller. Use a paint brush in tight places. A non-skid effect is obtained by sprinkling super hard Non-Skid Grit onto applied epoxy as applicator proceeds with application. See DUR-A-GARD Application Instruction Sheet for complete instructions.
PACKAGING AND SHELF LIFE
DUR-A-GARD Epoxy Coating is packaged in one gallon cans, five gallon pails and 50 gallon drums. Shelf life is one year in unopened containers.

SPREAD RATES
Unlike other types of paints, DUR-A-GARD can be applied as thick as desired, or necessary, to smooth a slightly rough surface. Spread rates depend on surface profile (fairly smooth or rough), application technique and desired durability. Obviously, thick coatings are more appropriate for heavy traffic areas. DUR-A-GARD is commonly applied at 200 sq. ft. per gallon. The following spread rates are industry standards for 100% solids coatings applied over fairly smooth concrete: (See table on this screen.)
"SPECIAL PURPOSE" FORMULATIONS
1. Dur-A-Gard "Regular" hardener (A) is a clear liquid, has good color stability and a fairly low viscosity so it is easy to apply. It cures blush-free even at very high humidity levels. However, it is very sensitive to water and moisture during its curing period. The surface must be perfectly dry and "on-grade" or "below-grade" concrete must have a suitable moisture barrier to assure a proper hardening of the epoxy. When properly cured, Dur-A-Gard is not sensitive to water or moisture.
2. Dur-A-Gard "Damp Primer" is a different type of hardener (A), the pigmented resin (B) is the same as the regular. Its outstanding feature is that it cures blush-free even in the presence of moisture. The Damp Primer version can be applied on a surface that contains moisture, it will even cure properly underwater. It is recommended that this version be used as the first coat on all concrete floors that are "on-grade" or "below-grade." This hardener is not as clear and color stable as the regular hardener (A), it will darken the color of the resin (B). This is no problem, however, when the Dur-A-Gard "Regular" is used in succeeding coats.
3. Dur-A-Gard "No-Sag" is designed for wall applications to avoid "runs" or "coating sag" on vertical surfaces. "No-Sag" features extended pot life of approximately 50 minutes at 70ºF to provide needed working time on walls.
4. Dur-A-Gard S/L is designed for areas that require a super smooth very cleanable surface.
Select a convenient mixing area and protect the surface from spillage by covering with cardboard and/or sheet of plastic. Make ready all necessary tools, mixing and measuring containers, etc.
DO NOT MIX ANY EPOXY UNTIL READY FOR IMMEDIATE USE. Once hardener and resin are combined, it must be used without delay. Apply masking tape wherever coating is intended to stop. To obtain neat straight edges at doorways, termination points and/or drains, a "keyed edge" must be installed.
