Safeguard Security manufactures UL Listed Armortex® Bullet Resistant Fiberglass. This material is manufactured using a starch-oil woven roving ballistic grade fiberglass cloth we manufacture in-house. The cloth is mechanically injected with a thermoset polyester resin and placed in a hydraulic hot press, then pressed into flat rigid 3' x 8' and 4' x 8' sheets. By using a starch-oil ballistic grade fiber in our cloth, we can maximize our ballistic performances by consistently achieving a uniform resin to fiber ratio. This allows the proper ply delamination to encapture projectiles.

Excessive resin left behind in the manufacturing process results in a thicker, less effective product. By using the correct amount of pressure and heat during our curing process, excessive resin is eliminated from Armortex® Bullet Resistant Fiberglass, always resulting in a product that provides the maximum amount of protection. For this reason, it is critical that bullet resistant fiberglass is never specified by thickness, but by a specific UL 752 protection level. At Safeguard, we offer UL Listed products for the most popular protection levels. Our Armortex® Bullet Resistant Fiberglass is approved by the U.S. Marshal Service, the General Services Administration, and complies with NIJ standards.

INSTALLATION

These panels can be cut using ordinary carpentry tools such as a circular, table, panel or saber saw. For cutting, a "Grit Edge" blade is recommended. For drilling holes, high speed twist drill bits are used at slow speeds. Installation may be accomplished by the use of an acceptable mastic, industrial adhesive, screws or bolts. Butt joints require a 4 inch wide batten strip backing of the same product to provide for 2 inches of overlap in both directions. This product is extremely versatile as it can be painted, taped and floated, textured, wallpapered, or used behind a standard drywall installation, and it readily accepts a plywood or plastic veneer using contact cement.
