For nearly two decades, East Coast Lightning Equipment, Inc. has been a leading supplier of high-quality, UL-listed lightning protection equipment. East Coast specializes exclusively in manufacturing lightning protection equipment. Lightning protection is not just an add-on to our product line – it is our product line. We carry a complete line of high-quality, reasonably priced lightning protection components. All of our products are fabricated from the most highly conductive copper and aluminum alloys used in the industry. Our fully-equipped manufacturing facility located in Winsted, Connecticut, is specially designed to exclusively manufacture lightning protection equipment. We even make all of our castings on-site in a state-of-the-art foundry.

The System

Lightning protection systems should include all of the following elements, which work together to prevent lightning damage.

  • air terminals
  • conductor
  • bonds with metallic bodies
  • ground terminations
  • surge suppression

Lightning protection system components are constructed from highly conductive copper and aluminum alloys. A lightning protection system is intended to last the life of the structure it protects and typically only requires maintenance in the event that the protected building is changed structurally.

There's Nothing Magical About Good Lightning Protection.

A lightning protection system performs a simple task. It provides a specified path on which lightning can travel. When a building is equipped with a lightning protection system the destructive power of the lightning strike is carried safely into the ground, leaving the structure, its contents and its occupants unharmed. A lightning protection system does not attract, repel or prevent a lightning strike. Modern lightning protection systems are installed to blend with the style and materials of a structure, making the system practically undetectable from the ground.
