![]() Boston Valley Terra Cotta is the sole American manufacturer of architectural terra cotta for use in both traditional and rainscreen cladding applications. Since 1981 we have worked to become the industry leader in traditional terra cotta products for historic restoration. With the addition of our TerraClad™ rainscreen product line, we have brought our knowledge and expertise with this ancient building material into the twenty first century. Terra Cotta for Restoration and New ConstructionWe have earned our reputation in the construction industry by maintaining exceptional service standards and by producing the highest quality architectural terra cotta. All of our clay recipes are noncombustible and engineered to meet all industry standards. Formulated to stand the test of time, terra cotta is a versatile material, giving designers the ability to create a variety of shapes and textures, from ornate friezes and gargoyles to roof tiles and the latest airfoil shapes used in today's rainscreen systems. Traditional Applications With our vast experience producing traditional architectural terra cotta for over 1,000 projects, Boston Valley Terra Cotta is able to handle restoration or new construction projects of any size or complexity. Our in house drafting department works to create shop and setting drawings of all terra cotta units to be produced. Boston Valley Terra Cotta's research and development color laboratory and glaze departments provide formulated clay-bodies and glazes to match your color specification. Beyond the traditional production technique of hand pressing, we utilize the more advanced technologies of RAM pressing and extrusion, increasing our production speed while decreasing production costs. Each terra cotta unit is finished by hand, sized and assembled previous to shipping to ensure precise fit within the structure. TerraClad™ Rainscreen Our reputation as industry leader for landmark restoration projects and new traditional construction has extended into the building envelope industry with our TerraClad™ rainscreen cladding system. The TerraClad™ rainscreen system is an open joint, ship-lapped cladding system wherein ceramic panels clipped onto an aluminum vertical track create a thermal and moisture barrier while also providing an aesthetically pleasing façade. As a mortar-less system, TerraClad™ rainscreens can be installed year round despite any difficult climate conditions, giving it an advantage over other cladding materials. These fired clay products experience zero color fade due to UV exposure and like their traditional counterparts are able to withstand the rigors of severe freeze/thaw climates. While available in panels, baguettes and louvers in a variety of standard colors, sizes, and profiles, the entire TerraClad™ system will be designed and engineered to fit the needs of your project. Our TerraClad™ drafting department will work with you to create a turnkey solution, while our color lab and glazing departments will create custom colors to match your requirements. Additionally, Boston Valley Terra Cotta has the ability to produce custom extrusion dies that give you infinite possibility in the design and three dimensional profile of your building. Please visit our website for more information and to view our portfolio of TerraClad™ projects. TerraClad™ – a naturally green material Beyond being a natural, durable building product, our terra cotta can contribute points to a project's LEED certification. The TerraClad™ rainscreen system can contribute up to 10 LEED credits for optimized energy performance, recycled content, regional materials both harvested and manufactured locally, and construction waste management.
