Industrial/Commercial Insulation for Thermal & Acoustic Control

ThermoCon gives you temperature, sound and condensation control in one application!

ThermoCon is a two component insulation consisting of a dry treated fire-resistive cellulose fiber combined with a special adhesive. It is designed to be spray applied to most any surface that can be painted with latex paint, including wood, metal, concrete, brick, glass and polyurethane foam. ThermoCon Industrial/Commercial insulation products are made from specially prepared long-fibered cellulose pulps, not to be confused with short-fibered cellulose or newspaper pulps. ThermoCon insulation is a proven, superior product that can be used wherever temperature, sound or condensation control is needed on interior ceilings or walls.

ThermoCon creates a pleasing and highly productive work environment. Aesthetically appealing, ThermoCon follows the contour of the architect’s design. The product is available in five colors: White, Beige, Light Grey, Tan, Black and "TEX-CEIL" available in White. Custom colors also available.

ThermoCon has been tested by accredited laboratories and found to be suitable as a thermal barrier over polyurethane foam and plastic insulation materials.

ThermoCon has been tested under the following ASTM Standard Tests and other laboratory tests listed in this electronic program.

ASTM E 605
Thickness and Density of Sprayed Fire-Resistive Materials

ASTM E 736
Cohesion/Adhesion of Sprayed Fire-Resistive Materials

Temperature Control

Because of its monolithic seal and the superior thermal quality created by hollow, interlaced fibers, ThermoCon provides an outstanding barrier to heat and cold transfer. It can be successfully applied across the entire temperature spectrum for comfort in both hot and cold climates or to rooms requiring rigid environmental control. ThermoCon can reduce heating and cooling bills.

Properties: R-Value of 3.7 per inch, K-Factor of 0.27 per inch. The FTC requires that R-Value claims be based on ASTM test methods and laboratory tests no older than 1985. Any similar materials claiming an R-Value in excess of 4.0 per inch cannot back this claim with valid repeatable current testing.

Sound Control

ThermoCon, correctly applied, will absorb up to 75% of the sound caused by the reverberations from hard surfaces such as walls, ceilings and floors. Tests reveal these superior sound absorption qualities over a broad range of frequencies. Manufacturing efficiencies and productivity rates increase as sound pollution is controlled.

Flame/Smoke Test

ThermoCon Industrial/Commercial Insulation is Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. classified and is subject to follow-up inspection. Each package of product carries the Underwriters Classification marking as shown in the Building Materials Directory.

TEX-CEIL

When you require a tough, fine textured seamless interior finish.

Choose ThermoCon’s TEX-CEIL when you require a tough, fine textured seamless finish for interior applications in new and existing buildings such as: schools, churches, hotels, offices, shopping malls and more. TEX-CEIL’s white, fire-resistive cellulose fiber, along with the adhesive binder, gives you a most attractive noise reduction installation. TEX-CEIL provides the owner, architect, or designer with a unique spray-applied finish that will provide beauty and durability, while hiding many minor surface imperfections present in new construction and renovation projects. It is an effective and economical alternative to such materials as acoustical plaster, suspended ceilings, tile, paint, and other unidimensional products. It is the ideal material for ceilings and walls where asbestos containing materials have been removed. The product is unaffected by normal temperature and humidity levels, will withstand minor abuse, and is a Class 1 building material.

If a tougher, more durable surface is required, Thermo-Tuff Protective Overspray Coating can be applied to the surface for more resilience.

Complete Testing
ThermoCon has been tested by independent laboratories in accordance with ASTM C 1149-90 Self Supported Spray Applied Cellulosic Thermal-Acoustical Insulation, Type I. The following was determined:

Physical Properties

Density/2.7 lb. cu. ft.

Thermal Conductivity – K-Value 0.27 = R-Value 3.7

Surface Burning Characteristics Flame Spread 5, Smoke Developed 0

Adhesive/Cohesive Strength – 37 times the weight

Smoldering Combustion – Less than 1% weight loss

Fungi Resistance – No fungi growth

Corrosion – No corrosion on copper, aluminum or steel

Moisture Vapor Absorption 1.43%

Odor – No offensive odor

Substrate Deflection – No cracking or delamination occurred

Air Erosion – Pass (0.14 g/sq.ft. pick up)

BASED ON THE ABOVE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES, THERMOCON IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE INSULATION SECTION OF CABO Model Energy Code, BOCA, ICBO AND SBCCI BUILDING CODES.

PRODUCT WARNINGS/LIMITATIONS

ThermoCon insulation products should not be used in areas where there is prolonged exposure to water or heat in excess of 150°F (85°C). Nor should it be applied in areas requiring a washable surface, or where contaminants such as dust, oil, paint vapors, fumes or mist exist. Accumulations of these contaminants may become hazards to the insulation. These contaminants will provide a fuel source and will burn when ignited and fire may spread. If a fire has occurred, the fire retardant chemicals are greatly reduced. Removal of the damaged insulation must be completed before reapplication. In high humidity applications, swimming pools, ice rinks, etc., ThermoCon will consider application approval on an individual job basis.

ThermoCon cannot be held responsible for misapplication of the product. Appearance and workmanship depend on proper application according to ThermoCon specifications. ThermoCon warrants ThermoCon’s insulation against defects in material for a period of one year from the date of purchase of the material from ThermoCon if stored, handled and installed in accordance with ThermoCon instructions.

ThermoCon makes no expressed warranties except in writing. All implied warranties of fitness and/or merchantability are expressly excluded. No sales agent, representative or employee is empowered to change, alter or amend this provision.
