COUNTER FIRE DOORS: General Description: R & S Counter Fire Doors integrate the automatic fire protection of a rolling fire door with the compact design and neat appearance of a counter door. They are available in primed steel or stainless steel and with most of the same options as Fire Doors. Warnock-Hersey 1 1/2-Hour or Oversize Certificate is furnished standard. Counter Fire Doors are designed to close automatically from a fully open position, activation of the closing device with the door in the down position may cause damage. Options: Perimeter Gasketing: Brush seals factory applied to guides and footpiece, field installed on header, to aid in smoke and draft control. Vision Lites: Single or multiple 4" wide cut-outs, glazed with clear wire glass (1 1/2 hour rating). Smoke Detectors: Photoelectric (detects smoke and heat) or ionization (detects combustion particles); requires a connection to a release device with compatible voltage. R & S Release And Control System Products: "Flame Guard A": Utilizes Solid State Securities "SS90" Model A release device. This system is a fail-safe unit for use on all "Certificate" and "Labeled" R & S Fire Doors and Counter Fire Doors, manual or motor operated. System features include: A) Independently adjustable delays for power loss and alarm, each factory set at 10 seconds. This allows the installer to address installation where the local authority will not permit delays in alarm but will allow a delay for power loss. B) A chassis mounted test button is provided for testing of the unit without interfering with the central alarm system or smoke detector. "Flame Guard B": Utilizes Solid State Securities "SS90" Model B release device. This system is a fail-safe unit for use on all "Certificate" and "Labeled" R & S Fire Doors and Counter Fire Doors with motor operation. System includes all features found in the "Flame Guard A" plus advanced performance features which include: A) Down Limit Detection which senses that the door is already in the closed position. The Down Limit Detection logic prevents releases of the door in alarm mode if the door is already closed. This eliminates resetting of an already closed fire door. "Flame Guard B-2": Utilizes Solid State Securities "SS90" Model B-2 release device. This system is for use on all "Certificate" and "Labeled" R & S Fire Doors and Counter Fire Doors with motor operation. System includes all features found in the "Flame Guard A & B" systems plus the addition of an internal battery support . The internal battery pack provides 72 hours of back-up support to the integral release mechanism in the event of a prolonged power failure, assuring that the release happens only during an alarm condition. The battery pack also allows for a maximum of (4) 12 volt D.C. smoke detectors to be supported, allowing a fire door to be totally independent of the buildings main smoke and alarm system. Other features include (2) separate alarm loops, (2) separate relay outputs and a 12 volt D.C. alarm output for optional emergency warnings appliances. The "Flame Guard B-2" is the ultimate solution in addressing installations where power failures are a regular occurrence. "Flame Guard C": Utilizes Solid State Securities "SS90" Model C release device and control system. This system is for use on "Certificate" and "Labeled" R & S Fire Doors and Counter Fire Doors with motor operation. System includes all features found in the " Flame Guard A, B, & B-2" systems. The Model C, upon receipt of an alarm signal, activates emergency warning devices (such as sirens, lights, or the optional voice warning module) and closes the door through the motor operator. Intelligent operation includes obstruction cycling, which, in conjunction with the reversing safety edge and the motor operator’s down limit sensing, verifies that the door has attained full closure. If an obstruction is encountered and if the obstruction is not removed after (3) complete up and down cycles the release device will mechanically release the door. An optional model CPC module is available which will allow the door to come down and stop on the obstruction, after the removal of the obstruction the door will complete it’s closure. The model CPC module will prevent the need for a mechanical release. Optional: Motor operator battery back-up, U.P.S. system is available to ensure adequate power to activate the motor operator in the event of a power failure. This system is only available only for 110-120 volt A.C. Note: All "Flame Guard" systems available with 120 volt A.C., 24 volt A.C., or 24 volt D.C. operating voltage. The term "Labeled" applies only to those sizes of doors that have been successfully tested in accordance with A.S.T.M. Standard E152, by an approved testing agency. The term "Certificate" applies to those sizes of doors that are larger then " Labeled" sizes and are regulated by the approved testing agency. R & S Manufacturing requires that Fire Doors be installed by an authorized R & S distributor on approved mounting surfaces in accordance with N.F.P.A.- 80.
