Laminated Glass / SuperNeutral® 68 Lami

Guardian has been producing laminated glass for over 60 years. That experience, innovation and science have combined to give Guardian a unique ability to produce the highest quality architectural laminated glass in a full array of thicknesses, sizes and colors.

Laminated glass is produced by bonding a plastic interlayer (PVB) between two or more panes of glass under heat and pressure. The result is, if the glass is broken, fragments tend to adhere to the plastic layer reducing the risk of injury. Guardian's laminated glass can utilize multiple substrates including clear, tinted and high performance glass and meets the current requirements of the ASTM E-1172 "Standard Specification for Laminated Architectural Float Glass."

SunGuard® SuperNeutral 68 (SN 68) offers dollar-saving solar control and it can be laminated for outstanding hurricane-rated performance. Plus its clear, neutral appearance is a design advantage for virtually any application. In just one package, SunGuard SN 68 provides a remarkably low 0.37 SHGC and a high 1.76 LSG ratio...so you capture more of the beauty of natural light without the heat gain.

Features and Applications

Safety

Laminated glass' safety characteristics allow it to be a substitution for tempered glass with the added advantage of the glass remaining in the frame if broken. Conformances: CFR 16 Part 1201 Cat I & II and ANSI Z-97.1

Color

Colored PVB interlayers can be utilized in Guardian's Laminated glass to allow architects to specify an array of colors for various design applications. Conformances: CFR 16 Part 1201 Cat I & II and ANSI Z-97.1

Hurricane Protection

When combined with an approved window system, Guardian's Laminated Glass passes the rigorous requirements of Southern Florida's hurricane codes. As hurricane codes are passed in coastal areas throughout North America, laminated glass will be in high demand. Conformances: Windborne Debris ASTM E-1886 and ASTM E-1996

Security

The bond between Guardian's glass and the PVB interlayer prevents would be burglar's easy access to homes or offices through forced entry. Conformances: ASTM F-1233, UL 972

Bomb Blast

The technology in Guardian's Laminated Glass allows the glass to bond to the PVB interlayer thus preventing the risk of deadly flying glass shards in the event of a bomb blast attack. Conformances: GSA Level C, GSA Level D

Sound

Guardian's laminated glass has natural sound damping capabilities. The STC rating of a business or office can be reduced by 2-3 points with laminated glass.

Solar

99% of the sun's ultraviolet radiation (UV) is blocked with laminated glass (up to 380 nm).
