Ternes Steel Co., Dunbarton's founding company, was established in post-WW II Detroit, Michigan. Beginning operations in a small building in urban Detroit, the fledgling company soon acquired several contracts that required larger production space. The steel bifold door was developed in 1955, marking the company's entrance into the building industry.

Slimfold, Dunbarton's door division, continued to perfect the bifold door, which was the company's flagship for the next 23 years. In 1978, Dunbarton acquired a steel door frame operation called Rediframe, sealing the company's quest to manufacture a compatible frame product for its bifold door. Both operations are located in Dothan, Alabama. In 1996 Dunbarton Corporation celebrated 50 years of Manufacturing Excellence.

Rediframe Products Division is a leading manufacturer of commercial pre-finished steel drywall frames. Rediframe steel frames are chosen to outfit buildings such as The Venetian, Mandalay Bay, and Stratosphere in Las Vegas, 301 Mission Street and the Ghirardelli Project in San Francisco, as well as Marriott and Fairfield Inn properties. Rediframe is a logical and durable frame solution in areas of high traffic, including hotel/motel, apartments, assisted living, and office buildings. The success of this product lies in the easy installation, saving time and money. Rediframe's continuing innovation in the steel frame product line has led to several patents: an adjustable strike; a special corner bracket to hold miters tight and true; and the Universal Hinge Prep, a hinge emboss that uses interchangeable back-up plates to accommodate template and non-template patterns. Because the generous design allowance virtually eliminates hinge binding, field adjustment is a snap! Rediframe's newest innovation is the patent-pending adjustable ASA strike, a specially designed strike emboss and backup plate that allows for a 1/16" adjustment – no grinding strike plates!

We challenged Rediframe Steel Door Frames to some of the toughest standards in the industry! In a Comparative Impact Test conducted at ETC Laboratories in Rochester, New York, Rediframe's design made the grade against hollow metal. 18 gage Rediframe 4-7/8" throat, 3'0" × 7'0" was tested against 16 gage welded hollow metal and 16 gage knock-down hollow metal, using an 80 lb. ram pendulum (200 ft. lbs. per impact). The welded frame withstood 310 impacts; the knock-down frame 154 impacts. Rediframe withstood 850 impacts under the same conditions. This test is similar to ANSI/NAAMM HMMA 863-90 Detention / Security Hollow Metal Specification. (See "Rediframe Specifications & Performance" screen for performance data.)

Rediframe's unique application is soundly engineered to give you a stronger, more durable product. To prove its toughness, Rediframe endured a cycle test at the Warnock Hersey facility in Pittsburg, California. A 4'0" × 8'0" 188 lb. hollow metal door was installed in a 3-1/2" wall, 22-gauge single swing frame. During testing, the frame reached Level A 1,000,000 cycles with no movement and no wear.

Rediframe's contemporary look blends into any room, and its unique, sleeve-the-wall installation provides strong-as-the-wall security. Rediframe is offered in a variety of colors; special colors available at an upcharge. Casing options give Rediframe tremendous design flexibility. Rediframe is offered with standard steel or aluminum casing, as well as the new S56 Steel Colonial casing (2-1/4" wide!). Rediframe can also be manufactured prepped for wood casing applications (supplied by others). Rediframe is used in virtually all door applications, both residential and commercial.

The Warranty for Steel Frames manufactured by REDIFRAME PRODUCTS DIVISION is to the original consumer purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase.

This warranty is applicable only when the product(s) covered by it have been installed in accordance with the recommended written installation instructions of REDIFRAME PRODUCTS DIVISION and with established building practices, have been accorded treatment which is considered good practice in the building industry regarding storage and maintenance, and have been subject only to normal use. Because REDIFRAME PRODUCTS DIVISION cannot control the manner in which its products are handled after leaving its premises, this warranty does not apply to the finish or accessories of any product.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply to you. In the event the original consumer purchaser of any REDIFRAME product believes that the frame or any parts thereof covered by this warranty are defective, a letter outlining the alleged defect should be sent postage prepaid to the following address:

Any REDIFRAME Products Steel Frame, or any parts thereof covered by this warranty which, upon inspection by an authorized representative of REDIFRAME PRODUCTS DIVISION, are found by said representative to be defective will be repaired, replaced, or at the option of REDIFRAME PRODUCTS DIVISION, the purchase price of the frame or part will be refunded and does not include labor, installation costs, finishing costs, or indirect or consequential damages of any nature. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
