Trench Covers and Grates – Heavy and Extra Heavy Duty

Trench Covers and Grates in the following series are STANDARD in Iron - furnished in Aluminum when specified.

TCMB and TGMB series are designed for roadway traffic and provide for an H20 wheel loading (32,000 pounds per axle).

TCHB or TGHB series are designed for extra heavy traffic, such as airport aprons and hangers, large forklifts, and extra heavy roadway traffic.

The standard slot openings for these series are 1”.  The water flow calculations for these standard openings are shown below.  Optional 3/8” slot openings can be specified, with lower water flows, for conditions where safe pedestrian pathways are required.


On all series, Covers and Grates are bolted to their Frames for installation in concrete to insure a proper fit after the concrete is placed. The Sheet Metal Form Pan is an optional feature to save the high cost of wood forming in the field. When the Form Pan is specified, it is welded to the Trench Frame. Standard depths for Form Pans are 2” less than the Trench widths (C-2”).

Flow Tables are for one inch (1”) if water head.  For two inch (2”) head multiply table figure by 1.25, for three inch (3”) head multiply table figure by 1.5625
