G-P Lam® Beams and Headers
G-P Lam® Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)
G-P Lam® LVL is designed for use as floor beams, garage doors, windows and door headers, and ridge and hip beams.
Multiple pieces of G-P Lam® LVL can be assembled easily to obtain greater thicknesses, providing additional strength to carry heavier loads. Greater load capacity means longer, uninterrupted spans.
G-P Lam is an Anthony Forest Products Power Beam 3000® Glulam Beam manufactured under a private label agreement and marketed by Georgia-Pacific as G-P Lam® 3000. The following information represents design properties and technical information published by Anthony Forest Products. Power Beam 3000® is a registered trademark of Anthony Forest Products.
G-P Lam® 3000 high-grade beams and headers are designed for use in Wood I Beam floor and roof systems.

3. Product Description
BASIC USE
G-P Lam LVL beams and headers are used in residential, commercial,
industrial, and institutional structures as floor beams, roof ridge beams,
and door and window headers. Made from laminated veneers, they are designed
for high dimensional stability and consistent strength. Because G-P Lam
is made of dry material, it resists shrinking, checking, splitting, and
warping. Due to uniform construction, waste is reduced. G-P Lam installs
just like lumber. Available in standard and custom lengths, beams and headers
can be cut to length on the job site.
COMPOSITION & MATERIALS
G-P Lam LVL beams and headers are 1-3/4" (44 mm) thick and are constructed
of pressure bonded, scarf-jointed wood veneers with grain of veneers parallel.
Beam depths are 9-1/4", 9-1/2", 11-1/4", 11-7/8", 14", 16", and 18" (235,
241, 286, 302, 356, 406 and 457 mm) as required for loading, deflection
and span. All adhesives meet the requirements of ASTM D2559.
LIMITATIONS
Strictly adhere to Georgia-Pacific's published installation guide.
Please contact Georgia-Pacific for a copy of the guide.
G-P Lam LVL beams and headers should be protected from the weather. Exterior application or any use of the G-P Lam in other than dry conditions is not recommended. Both 16" and 18" (406 and 457 mm) deep beams must be used in multiple piece members only.

5. Installation
METHODS
G-P Lam LVL beams and headers will not support workers or other loads
until properly installed and braced. To minimize the risks of injury, follow
the procedures below before allowing workers or other loads on the beams
and headers.
Each G-P Lam beam and header must be properly fastened as it is erected.
Builder must supply minimum bearing as recommended by Georgia-Pacific.
G-P Lam LVL beams and headers must not remain in direct contact with masonry construction. For best results when nailing top loaded multipiece members, use two rows of 16d common nails 12" (305 mm) o.c. for depths 12" (305 mm) or less and three rows of 16d common nails at 12" (305 mm) o.c. for beams with a depth greater than 12" (305 mm). The top and bottom rows of nails should be 2" (51 mm) from the top and bottom edges of the beam. For side loaded, multipiece members, contact Georgia-Pacific.
BUILDING CODE CONFORMITY
G-P Lam LVL is listed with major building codes. Contact Georgia-Pacific
for the most current code compliance.
