Photoluminescent Exit Door Markings and Signs Door signs are installed at every exit door leading from the exit enclosure or an intermediated door at the intersection of corridors. Exit doors need to wrapped with a 1" PL material and the door hardware should be marked. NYC further requires directional signs include arrows that indicate the direction of travel to the final exit door but the word EXIT is not required.
