Description & Uses
-
Fiberglas® Duct Liners enhance indoor
environmental quality by absorbing noise within sheet metal ducts. These
products also contribute to indoor comfort by lowering heat loss or gain
through duct walls.
-
Fiberglas Duct Liners are bonded blankets
or boards of glass fibers designed to be installed inside sheet metal ductwork
or plenums with metal fasteners and adhesives. Smooth, fire-resistant airstream
surfaces resist damage during installation and in service. These products
comply with the requirements of National Fire Protection (NFPA) standards
90A and 90B, qualifying them under other model codes.
-
Aeroflex PLUS® Acoustical Duct Liner
is available in a selection of densities and thicknesses to meet specific
system thermal and acoustical performance requirements. (See availability
table at right.) Rolls are sized to run efficiently on modern automatic
coil lines. A tough, coated, flame-retardant airstream surface stands up
to gouging and other abuse in the shop and on the way to the job site,
and contributes to reliable long-term service at internal air velocities
up to 6,000 fpm (30.5 m/s).
-
Aeromat® Duct Liner, a flexible
mat-faced product, is available in thicknesses from 1/2" (13mm) to 1" (50mm)
for service at air velocities to 5,000 fps (25.4 m/s).
-
Fiberglas Duct Liner Board is a coated,
rigid insulation available in thicknesses of 1", 11/2" and 2" (25, 38 and
51mm). It is ideal for use in large ducts and plenums where air velocities
do not exceed 4,000 fps (20.3 m/s).
-
Aeroflex PLUS Acoustical Duct Liner
and Fiberglas Duct Liner Board have factory-edge coating to comply with
industry standards requiring treated transverse joints.
Features & Benefits
-
Owens Corning duct liners absorb noise
within the duct, helping create quiet and comfortable environments.
-
These duct liners can help reduce operating
costs by lowering heat loss or gain through duct walls, conserving energy
and eliminating or reducing the need for external insulation.
-
Installation costs are reduced because
these products resist damage that can often occur during fabrication and
installation. Factory-applied edge coating of Aeroflex PLUS Acoustical
Duct Liner and Fiberglas Duct Liner Board saves fabricators the time and
cost involved in complying with SMACNA requirements for treating transverse
joints.
-
The tough interior surfaces make it
easier to clean the duct liners using methods and equipment described in
North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) Publication
AH122, Cleaning Fibrous Glass Insulated Duct Systems: Recommended Practices.
-
Owens Corning duct liners have flame
spread ratings of 25 and smoke developed ratings of 50 when tested in accordance
with UL 723. They meet requirements of NFPA 90A/90B for fire resistance.
-
An EPA registered biocide in the coating
protects the coating from microbial growth and meets requirements of ASTM
C 1338, ASTM G 21 (fungi test), and ASTM G 22 (bacterial test).
