Operable Partitions

A classic choice for high return on investment and timeless design options.

The Classic 7000 is a steel-reinforced, aluminum framed panel. The frame protects the face and edges for rugged durability and long partition life. Design permits easy replacement of faces should you want to change room decor.

When aesthetics are important, the Classic 7000 offers panel finishes for the ultimate in design flexibility. Choose finishes from standard or non-standard vinyls, fabrics, carpets, high-pressure laminates, wood veneer, etc. The panels may even be shipped unfinished for onsite covering or installing of chair rails and wood moldings. Multiple finishes, inset chalk, tack, and writing boards are also available. The aluminum frames may be painted or color anodized to match or coordinate with the faces.

UA-USES, APPLICATIONS
While Classic 7000 partitions may be used wherever temporary space division is required, they are most commonly used in hotels, schools, and commercial projects. Their decorative versatility makes them a popular designer choice.

PP-PRODUCT PRESENTATION
Hufcor aluminum-framed (Series 7000 Classic) partitions are available in omni-directional, paired, or train configurations. The overall panel design remains the same; however, the top channel is modified to accommodate various track and carrier requirements. The steel-reinforced aluminum frame provides full perimeter protection for the panel faces. Product design allows the use of a variety of decorative surfaces and colors. Frames are standard bronze or clear finish but may be painted to match or complement faces. Series 7000 panels are guaranteed for four years.

MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION
A. To be Hufcor Series (inset from chart) as manufactured by Hufcor Inc.
1. Panels will be nominally 4" thick, and not to exceed 48-1/2" in width. Panel construction shall consist of (select one):
MDF
Steel
Tackable base
Laminated to appropriate structural and acoustical backing, mounted in full perimeter protective frames of steel-reinforced anodized architectural grade aluminum.
Top channel assembly shall be reinforced to support the suspension components. Panel faces shall be removable and replaceable on the job.

2. Frames of anodized architectural grade aluminum shall fully enclose and protect all edges of the surface material.

3. Vertical sound seals between panels shall be deep nesting tongue and groove configuration consisting of extruded aluminum astragals incorporating vinyl acoustical seals.

4. Top & bottom retractable seals incorporate 1/4" gaskets for proper acoustical seal upon activation.

5. Hinges on panels (Models 7500 & 7900) are recessed and project no more than 1/4" beyond panel faces. Color shall match panel trim.

6. Footbolts and stabilizers are internal and edge activated. No protruding footbolts attached to panel faces are allowed.

7. Weight of the panel is (see chart) lbs. per square foot.

B. Suspension system will consist of anodized architectural grade, heavy duty extruded aluminum connected to the structural support by a minimum of 3/8" threaded rods. Track shall have integral support for adjoining ceiling, soffit, or plenum sound barrier. No guide rail or track sweep seals permitted.

Pairs & Trains: Each panel shall be supported by one trolley assembly consisting of four steel ball bearing wheels.

Omni Panels: Each panel shall be supported by two trolley assemblies consisting of steel ball bearing wheels.

C. Panel finish
1. Shall be factory applied, Class "A" rated material. Finish shall be: (Select one):
--Hufcor standard Highland or Cairn reinforced vinyl fabric with woven backing, weighing not less than 15 oz. per lineal yard. Flame spread 5; Smoke Developed 10; Fuel Contributed 0.

Optional:
--Hufcor standard vertical ribbed carpet (N.R.C. .20-.30)
--Hufcor woven 100% polyolefin stain resistant fabric
--Hufcor design permits use of many non-standard finishes. Among these are (contact Hufcor for approval):
-Unfinished for field finishing by others
-High Pressure laminate
-Wood Veneers
-Painted steel
-Full height chalk/marker board

2. Frames shall be anodized in either clear or medium bronze.
Optional: Custom paint or anodizing to match decor.

3. Seal channel color shall match panel trim.

4. Available Options: inset work surfaces, inset Exit signs, pass doors, pocket doors, chair rails.

OPERATION
Pairs & Omnis
A. Pairs (Models 7500): Partitions shall be top supported, manually operated panels hinged in groups of two or three, center stack, with retractable top and bottom seals.

Omni-Directional (Models 7600): Partitions shall be top supported, manually operated panels, side stack, with retractable top and bottom seals.

B. Basic panel top and bottom retractable seals will be simultaneously operated by a security/operating handle located approximately 42" from the floor at panel edge. All seals shall be operated simultaneously. Face activated or automatic seal activation not acceptable.

Operation of the seals shall require no more than 190º turn of the handle. Horizontal seals to provide not less than 100 lbs. (50 kg) of stabilizing pressure per panel when extended. Horizontal top seals, when retracted, provide 1" operating clearance between top of panel and track for friction-free movement. Horizontal bottom seals 1-1/2" nominal operating clearance when extended.

C. Final partition closure to be by (select one) :
Lever Closure Panel of same construction as basic panels but provided with an expanding jamb operated by a security/operating handle. Expanding jamb shall compensate for out-of-plumb conditions or minor wall irregularities and provide and maintain a continuous lateral load of up to 275 lbs. of seal pressure to achieve maximum sound control.

Trains (Models 7900 Electric & Manual):
Electric:
A. Train (Models 7900 Electric) partitions shall be top supported, electrically operated, continuously hinged. Each panel shall be supported by its own carrier. Partitions shall be key switch controlled, requiring constant pressure to activate the motor.

B. Horizontal top seals shall be twin-finger continuous contact type. Horizontal mechanical bottom seals shall be lowered to the floor automatically by final sealing action of the partition. Bottom seal to be capable of extending 1-1/2".

C. To provide a positive vertical seal between the partitions and the building structure, the lead panel shall have self-compensating seals on panel edge. Final closure of panel at the stacking end of each partition shall have a full height dual seal which will be automatically closed by the motor drive.

Manual:
A. Partitions shall be top supported, manually operated, continuously hinged.

B. Horizontal top seals shall be continuous contact type. Horizontal mechanical bottom seals shall be activated from either side of the stack panel by 3/4 turn of a handle. Bottom seal to be capable of extending 1-1/2". Final closure of the panel at the stacking end of each partition shall be done manually.

ACOUSTICAL PERFORMANCE
A. Laboratory acoustical performance is to be tested by an independent acoustical consultant at a laboratory NVLAP accredited by the U. S. Dept. of Commerce in accordance with Quality Assurance under General Conditions and shall have obtained an STC of _____ (select those desired from chart).

Complete written test report by the testing agency is to be made available upon request and included with approval drawings.

TS-TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Layout/design assistance or complete Architect Manual available upon request from local Distributor.

CC-CODES, CERTIFICATION
