PRODUCT PRESENTATION
Ametco® Sun Shades offer key benefits for architects and building owners:

  • Reduce glare from the sun
  • Reduces heat gain and cooling loads
  • Improved daylighting of interior spaces

Aesthetic choices with three panel styles: Bar Grille, Louver and Perforated

In the interest of improving quality and design, Ametco® reserves the right to amend specifications without giving prior notice.

Bar Grille Sunshade
Al Bar Grille designs are manufactured to order in either galvanized steel or aluminum. The Sunshade is then powder coated for lasting beauty.

Ametco® Mfg. Corp. certifies that its sunshade system is free from defects in material and workmanship. The Polyester coated material is guaranteed not to crack, peel or blister for a period of 10 years. Accidental damages, defects resulting from improper installation and damage from vandalism are not included. Warranty is limited to a prorated value of the original coating, not to exceed the original value of the coating.

Bar Grille Styles
Styles shown at the right are designed with the depth of the bar required to achieve 60 degrees incident angle of sunshade.

Style 101
1 ½” x 1/8” Bar on 15/16” centers. 10 ft. maximum span.

Style 102
2” x 3/16” Bar on 1 3/16” centers. 10 ft. maximum span.

NEW! Phoenix® Design
Ametco®’s extruded aluminum Sunshades are manufactured from heavy duty 6063 aluminum extrusions. Main bars are sized 4 in. x ½ in and can span up to 20 ft.

Two styles are available:

Style 103
4" x 1/2" Aluminum Extrusions on 2-13/16" Centers – 45 deg. blade

Style 104
4" x 1/2" Aluminum Extrusions on 2-1/2" Centers – 90 deg. blade

Both designs are polyester powder coated, giving long life with a touch of elegance to harmonize with any environment yet remain maintenance free for many years.

Louver Sun Shade
Louver Sun Shades are manufactured to order in galvanized steel or aluminum.

Style 201 offers 80% direct visual screening and Style 202 offers 100% direct visual screening.

These styles have a 6-foot maximum span.

Perforated Sunshades
The styles shown here are a sampling of the perforations available. Please contact the Ametco® Sales Department with your requirements. Ametco® Perforated Sunshades are 1/8” thick sheet in either powder coated aluminum or galvanized steel.

The angle frame is engineered for each job based on the span. Examples: for a 6 ft. span, a 2” x 2” x ¼” angle frame is required; for a 10 ft. span, a 3” x 3” x ¼” angle frame with center tie bar is required.

Perforated Material Style 331
1” x 4” Round End Slot with 1” Side Bar and 2” End Bar. 30% Open Area.

Perforated Material Style 332
2” Round Perforations. 3.25” Straight Row Centers. 30% Open Area.

MATERIALS and FINISHES
Lasting Colors
Ametco® Sunshades are protected by extremely effective coating systems, giving long life with a touch of elegance.

Ametco®’s Steel Sunshades use a hot dip galvanized finish with a polyester powder coating giving protection from the elements, as well as increasing its sturdiness and eliminating maintenance. The hot dip galvanizing will leave rough areas on the treated surface. These rough areas do not impair the coating in terms of corrosion resistance. The galvanized product is then powder coated. This system gives the best corrosion protection in the industry.

Ametco®’s Aluminum Sunshades are typically powder coated or painted with a 2-part polyurethane for units too large to be powder coated.

Once you have selected the color from the wide choices available, it will endure exposure without crazing or fading. The color gives an “extra” touch of appeal to the Sunshade, harmonizing with its surroundings.

Colors

We also offer custom colors on a minimum order basis. Please contact Ametco® for additional information.

Finish Warranty
The American Hot Dip Galvanizers Association, Inc. states, “The life expectancy of galvanized coatings on typical structural member is far in excess of 50 years in most rural environments and 20 to 25 years plus, even in severe urban and coastal exposure.”

The warranty for the powder coated finish is 20 years. The polyester coated galvanized metal remains corrosion free for years.

Performance properties for the polyester coating are as follows:
SALT SPRAY RESISTANCE: (ASTM B-117) Bonderite 1000 steel panels, in a scored condition, exhibit no undercutting after 500 hours in 5% spray testing at 95 degrees F and 95% relative humidity. No rusting or blistering on panel face. Under the same conditions after 1000 hours the panels showed less than 3/16 " undercutting.

WEATHERABILITY: (ASTM D822) After one year exposure in South Florida with panels facing south and tilted at a 45 degree angle, a high gloss white polyester coating retains 88% gloss (gloss readings obtained on washed panels). No film failure.

A 2-part polyurethane coat on top of hot dip galvanized is used when Sunshades are too large to be powder coated. Ametco® Mfg. Corp. certifies that its Sun Shades are free from defects in material and workmanship. The polyester coated Sunshades are guaranteed not to crack, peel or blister for a period of 20 years. Accidental damages, defects resulting from improper installation and damage from vandalism or abuse are not included. Warranty is limited to a prorated value of the coating, not to exceed the original value of the coating. Or, at Ametco®’s discretion, re-coating the Sunshade but not to include labor removal or reinstallation.
