Interchangeable Core

Schlage interchangeable core cylinders allow the immediate rekeying of a lock without the time and expense of repinning cylinders. The core is removable by rotating a control key 15º and pulling out the core. The replacement core is installed or replaced with the use of a control key.
Schlage L-Series mortise locks are available with the interchangeable core option on all keyed functions. Compression rings and blocking rings are furnished with each order to fit standard 1-3/4" door installations. Cams are permanently affixed to cylinder housings.

To order Schlage L-Series mortise locks with interchangeable core cylinders, change suffix P to R. Example: L9453R. To order interchangeable core locks less the core unit, change suffix R to J. Example: L9453J. Cylinder cores will be furnished in finishes 606 and 626 only.

Existing installations of Schlage L-Series mortise locks can be easily converted to interchangeable core cylinders. Merely replacing the old cylinder with the interchangeable core cylinder unit and proper blocking ring(s) performs the conversion.

Primus Interchangeable Core

Primus interchangeable cores are an available option for use with L-Series locks in the
20-700 Controlled Access series. Schlage has designed the drivers for all interchangeable lock lines to accept both standard and Primus cores providing flexibility and ease of installation. Existing L-Series lock installations will require replacing the old cylinder with the interchangeable core cylinder unit and proper blocking ring(s). When ordering, specify design, finish, and keying requirements. Refer to Accessory and Service catalog for temporary interchangeable core availability.
