The Huntco BR Series bike racks are still the #1 racks in America. Their strength and smooth, graceful lines are often imitated, but never duplicated by other manufacturers. They provide maximum security and are maintenance-free. All models easily accommodate the high security U-shaped locks preferred by bicyclists.
The BR Bicycle Rack
Each unit is constructed of 2-3/8"(6.0 cm) O.D. 2"(5.0 cm) I.D. x 0.154"(.39
cm) wall ASTM A53 schedule 40 steel pipe. Available in four finishes:
Hot Dipped Galvanized, Powder Coated (10 standard colors), Stainless Steel, and
Thermoplastic coating. The model numbers indicate the number of bikes that each
rack holds. All BR Series racks are 36"(91.4 cm) or an optional 42"(106.7
cm) high.
The BR Plus Bicycle Rack
The Huntco BR Plus Racks are simple, elegant and supremely durable. Available
in generous 18" center to center loops, this "Big Brother" to the
BR Rack provides easier bike placement and removal. Like the BR Series, each unit
is constructed of 2-3/8"(6.0 cm) O.D. 2"(5.0 cm) I.D. x 0.154"(.39
cm) wall ASTM A53 schedule 40 steel pipe. Available in four finishes.
The model numbers indicate the number of bikes that each rack holds. All BR Plus
racks are a standard 36"(91.4 cm) or an optional 42"(106.7 cm) high.

FINISHES
The HOT-DIPPED GALVANIZED finish is suitable for more utilitarian
bike rack placement. In the galvanizing process, it is very important that the
metal surface be perfectly clean in order for the zinc to adhere to the metal.
Each bike rack is caustic cleaned to remove organic contaminants and sandblasted
to remove other surface contaminants. A dilute acid solution removes rust and
a fluxing procedure removes oxides. Only then is the bike rack immersed in 98%
pure molten zinc and allowed to dry in ambient air. The rack is then hand-filed
to remove any galvanizing flash. The result is a Huntco bike rack that is virtually
abrasion-resistant.
Our POWDER COAT FINISH resists chipping, rusting and fading. It is hard and tough enough to withstand the most extreme weather and heaviest usage conditions.
We closely monitor each step of the powder coating process to ensure that Huntco’s
high standard of quality is evident in every finished bike rack.
In order for the powder coating to adhere to the metal, the steel must be free
of any scale, paint, varnish or rust. This substrate preparation includes a chemical
wash and rinse. The bike rack is then pre-baked to eliminate any liquid residue.
This is followed by an iron phosphate rust inhibitor treatment that also primes
the surface.
A polyester coating, triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC) powder is then baked onto the prepared bench to a thickness of 6 to 8 mils.
Huntco’s standard POWDER COAT COLORS are Postal Blue (RAL 5022), Sky Blue (RAL 5010), Forest Green (RAL 6005), Yellow (RAL 1018), Bright Red (RAL 3001), Maroon (RAL 3007), Gloss Black (RAL 9004), Sky White (RAL 9001), Tan (RAL 8001), and Bronze (RAL 8014). Custom colors are readily available.
Huntco’s state-of-the-art THERMOPLASTIC COATING is one step beyond our Powder Coating. It is designed for maximum mechanical performance, unparalleled impact resistance and UV-stability. Because it is thicker than powder coating, it is the most “bike friendly” finish on the market. Our thermoplastic coating is a functionalized polyethylene copolymer-based powder, Polyarmor® G17 by Innotek®. It is environmentally safe, containing no PVCs, phthalates or chlorine components that can emit VOCs.
This superior thermoplastic coating comes in 10 standard colors: Black, Dark Gray, Light Gray, Royal Blue, Sky Blue, Red, Yellow, White, Dark Brown and Hunter Green.
STAINLESS STEEL bike racks by Huntco are, by far, the most elegant bike racks available. Our #4 Satin Finish makes them impervious to any weather conditions and striking in their appearance. These stainless steel racks set the standard for all others to follow.
The combination of the finest materials and our insistence on using the best
and most technologically advanced application procedures makes Huntco finishes
superior to any others. It’s what our customers have come to expect and
it’s what we will continue to provide.
INSTALLATION
There are two methods of installing Huntco Bicycle Racks:
Flange Mounting (FL) and In-Ground Mounting (IG)
Flange and In-Ground Base Covers
A great Huntco option these covers can be used on any flange-mounted or in-ground
installed rack. They give a perfect "finishing touch" to the rack and,
when tack-welded in place over flanges, make it impossible to steal the rack and/or
bikes. Please see the attached CAD installation drawings.
