INTERSPAN®
Epoxy Expansion Joint System

A. Smooth Riding Surface
The Interspan Expansion Joint System provides a smooth, jolt-free surface. Its space age components and careful manufacture to rigid specifications assure a long service life.

B. Instantly Successful
The innovative Interspan Expansion Joint System design was first installed successfully in 1979 in Scandinavia where the climate and loading present all types of expansion and compression problems that can easily destroy the toughest joint materials… not to mention the abrasive hazards of snowplows and studded tires. In recent years the Interspan System has been successfully installed throughout the United States and Canada. It is used primarily in horizontal applications. Vertical applications also have proven successful.

C. The Interspan System withstands loads and movement like no other expansion joint material.

D. Solves common problems other joints can’t handle.
This joint catches women’s heels, traps dirt. Has poor thermal coefficient of expansion.
This joint allows cohesive and adhesive failure, even snow plow damage.

E. Multiple level adhesion is strong, watertight.
This flexible joint system is installed with an aggressive epoxy applied both vertically and horizontally on three crucial surfaces of the joint material. This prevents adhesive failure as well as water infiltration between the nosing and substrate. This way, water and other potentially harmful substances cannot penetrate and attack either the concrete or the structural steel.

F. Vandal Resistant material must be either sawed or cut out after it is epoxied into place.

G. The innovative Interspan Expansion Joint System consists of a flexible, fabric reinforced elastomeric membrane section supported by angles manufactured by the pultrusion process from a UV resistant, fire retardant, isophthalic polyester resin system. These angles help distribute the load and maintain joint integrity.

H. Puncture resistance… withstands heel traffic, studded tires, and other abrasive contact.

I. Profile stays level under normal extension and compression conditions within given parameters of movement. Level profile also provides a "quiet", safe joint.

J. One-piece construction
Pre-molded and cured at the factory for consistent material performance in the field.

K. Special fabric reinforced shoulders provide uniform movement and added strength.

Continuous lengths also available up to 13 ft. long.

Quickly and easily installed on site with minimal tools and equipment.

Flexible joint… capable of accommodating critical, multidirectional concrete movement.

Fire Retardant Polyester resin nosing – no metal to react with water or chemicals.
