Automatic Operation in Event of a Fire The system can be programmed to close when activated by a smoke alarm, using its fail-safe back-up DC power supply if necessary. Disability Access & Manual Override FireGuard's pressure-sensitive leading edge will stop door closure immediately upon contact with an obstruction, pause momentarily, and then continue to close. Automatic operation can be overridden at any time. Fire-exit hardware can be installed that will open the door a preprogrammed width, pause and then continue to close at each activation. Assisted-Living Facilities Sensitivity to the unique needs of the residents is essential when designing assisted-living facilities. Wide, unobstructed corridors, open foyers and improved sightlines facilitate residents’ mobility, but can make fire code compliance a challenge. Architects for the Sunrise Assisted-Living Facility used the Won-Door FireGuard system to resolve the safety-versus-design dilemma. With a U.L. listing for up to 3 hours, the FireGuard system complies with all exiting provisions set by all model building codes. 
Custom Fit FireGuard systems can be custom made for virtually any floor plan, accommodating wide span as well as curved openings. FireGuard stacks away into wall pockets when not in use so corridors remain clear and visually unobstructed. Centralized Control A control unit located in the wall pocket enables door status to be monitored from a central location.
