Calacatta Michelangelo Polished 3cm Marble
Marble has both scientific and commercial definitions. Scientific marble was once limestone that achieved metamorphosis from intense pressures and high temperatures within the earth. This trauma altered its crystalline structure, introducing other minerals that produced the valuable colors and veining seen in the stone. Commercially, any stone capable of taking a polish (with the exception of granite) is known as marble. This includes travertine, onyx, serpentine, and limestone.
Marble is a metamorphic rock consisting chiefly of recrystallized calcite or dolomite. Classic and luxurious marble is a top material selection when you are looking for that “wow” factor. Available in a wide variety of colors and durability levels clients should be aware that while marble is heat resistant it can be susceptible to scratches, stains and etching from household acids. Today’s sealers are quite advanced and can provide great protection from staining. Some marbles have been treated with a revolutionary new process “Antolini Zero Care”. This process does provide acid resistance for a period of time. Please ask a Terrazzo and Marble representative for more information. Marble can require regular maintenance but its unique elegant appearance makes it a top choice for many projects.
