Rolling Security Grilles

Need to securely separate two spaces but still need airflow and visibility? Our Rolling Security Grilles are your answer. Our durable Rolling Security Grilles keep areas off-limits, require little to no maintenance and can be configured to meet your desired aesthetic.

Custom built to an exact opening size, the commercial-duty design is durable, requires little-to-no maintenance and offers ease of repair with readily available parts. Install these overhead grilles behind storefront glass, at service window openings, in schools, malls, restaurants, healthcare settings and more.

We offer several different security grille models, with different material options. Multiple opening sizes, as wellas straight block or staggered brick patterns make the rolling grille variations practically unlimited. Our security grilles can be powder coated in nearly 200 stock colors as well as custom options and upgrades such as flame retardant polycarbonate inserts to prevent theft of small articles.

For convenience, the security grille curtain stores in an overhead coil supported by the guide extensions for an out of sight, compact storage.

When you need to protect areas from unauthorized access, intrusion or theft but don’t want to limit visibility or air flow, our rolling security grilles are the perfect solution.

Rolling Security Grilles provide the following benefits:

  • Security: Grilles prevent unauthorized access and discourage forced entry at building exterior openings, storefronts or areas within buildings, such as pharmacies or parts counters. Used behind plate glass storefronts, they are a deterrent to smash-and-grab crime.

  • Aesthetics: A variety of metal finishes from polished stainless to deep bronze are available to contribute to visual aesthetics as well as curtain configurations in straight or brick pattern.

  • Design Flexibility: Our grilles are built to order to fit your opening size, operation and option preferences.

  • Space-saving: Curtain stores in a compact coil at the head of an opening for fuller use of the interior space.

  • Durability: Rugged commercial-grade construction stands the test of time with little to no maintenance.

  • Early Installation Option: Early/easy self-supporting installation system lets grilles be fitted in before walls are built and before there is an opening.

  • Low life cycle cost: Rugged construction and quality materials assure long life and less costly maintenance.

Sizes
  • Standard construction up to 40' wide x 20’ high

Usage

The grilles are constructed for daily use and can withstand operation of up to 20cycles per day - that’s 50K cycles for the lifetime of the grille. Dependent on curtain configuration and spring selection.

If your requirements call for increased speed (up to 24 inches per second), more than 50 cycles per day, or 300,000 cycles lifetime, consider our line of High Performance products.

Standard Materials and Finishes

Standard materials and finishes change based on curtain option selected.

Aesthetics

Chain Diverter for MGH Operators

This option moves the auxiliary chain out of the clear opening and to the side of the door - enabling free movement through the door and making a chain bag unnecessary.

Fixed Panels

Grille curtain can be mounted in a fixed frame assembly. It can be installed separately, or installed near a rolling grille curtain to complement the aesthetics. Often used in parking garages.

Hood and Operator Covers

Metal cover to protect the coil or operator from exterior weather, debris or to meet OSHA or UL 325 safety requirements.

Powder Coating Grilles

Powder coat finish in more than 180 colors is available on perimeter components such as the aluminum bottom bar, hoods, wall angles, tubes and fascia. This finish is not available on the grille curtain.

Trim Package

In applications where exterior aesthetics are important, such as hotels, condominiums, convention centers and parking garages, the addition of a trim package can cover unsightly hardware and contribute to the building's architecture.

Grille Curtain Construction

VISIONAIRE Open Curtain - Straight

An open curtain design with straight rows and columns. Available in 9”, 6” or 3” vertical chain spacing.

VISIONAIRE Open Curtain - Brick

An alternative open curtain design that allows air circulation and full visual access of the area being protected. Curtain is constructed with offset rows and columns that resemble traditional brick - horizontal 5/16" diameter solid aluminum rods at 2" centers. Rods supported by heavy duty aluminum links, held in staggered position by tube spacers throughout the entire curtain assembly.

VISTAGARD™ Glazed Panel

An option available for increased protection from theft of small articles through the curtain, the VistaGard is constructed of clear 12" x 3", 1/8" thick Lexan® (or equal) panels. The flame retardant poly carbonate panels are secured by bronze color molded nylon links attached to 5/16" diameter solid aluminum horizontal rods of alloy 5056 H32, creating a barrier against refuse, odors and smoke.

Performance Upgrades

Grille High Cycle Construction

For grilles that will cycle more than 5 times per day, such as parking garages and sally port openings, we recommend Model ESG12 brick pattern configuration. Alternative high cycle options include the Extreme SentryGate® grille and the Extreme 324 Grille.

High Cycle Springs

Heavy duty springs manufactured to withstand cycles of 100,000.

Seismic Performance Validation

We can provide project specific seismic calculations for all coiling doors that are mounted Face of Wall to steel or masonry. Seismic performance validation is per ASCE 7-05.

Safety and Protection

Entrapment Protection Devices

Entrapment protection devices ensure that a motorized door or grille will not close on an object. If an object enters path of closure, the entrapment protection device will stop the door or grille from closing and return it to the fully open position.

Guide-Mounted Interlocks

An electrical cutout switch to prevent motor operation if locking device is not first disengaged.

Locking

A wide variety of locking options are available to meet your security needs.

Manual Release System

If egress is required on a motorized grille, a wall mounted pull handle disengages the motor to allow the grill to partially open.

Motor Mounted Interlock

An overload sensing device that prevents damage if motor operation is attempted when the door or grille is locked. Field wired guide mounted interlocks are no longer necessary.

Unique Design Solutions

Combination Doors

Combine two different slat profiles in the same curtain. Typically, a standard slat is combined with a perforated slat or even rolling grille for ventilation and security.

Countertops

Countertops are available for a complete counter shutter closure solution, and can be UL rated.

Mullions

There are multiple mullion options - corner, fixed and removable.

Sloping or Irregular Openings

Our special bottom bar designs can address these conditions.

Superimposed Doors

Combine two different curtains on the same opening. Typically, an insulated door is used in conjunction with an open design rolling grille to provide ventilation. When extreme weather or sound resistance is desired, we can provide superimposed/double insulated curtain assemblies.
