Lower ceiling heights often make it difficult to install overhead security gates, but not anymore. Our MicroCoil® compact high performance security gate delivers top performance in a minimal space. Maximize your clearance space with the only high performance parking gate to coil up into less than 14” of headroom space - and often much smaller.

MicroCoil helps you maximize clear opening space without sacrificing performance. Our MicroCoil parking gate system provides the high performance benefits of long lasting, springless, virtually maintenance free design. The compact parking garage gate is engineered to handle at least 500,000 cycles at operating speeds of up to 24 inches per second. The patented vertical nesting link design not only allows the security gate to fit into nearly 50% less space, but it also enables significantly quieter operation . The gate is custom manufactured to your exact opening specification size and needs. Its compact design allows for security gate installations in parking structures that were previously unthinkable, due to height and headroom restrictions.

The compact safety gate means that a parking garage with 9’6” clearances can still meet ADA 2010 requirements and accommodate a security grille, something rarely attainable in the past. Retrofits, upgrades and new roll up gate installations are now possible in many parking structures that weren’t before due to ADA 2010 standards.

The MicroCoil comes with a direct drive operator and our Apex SmartController control panel, making installation and setup a breeze. Our Apex Smart controller features plug and play connections and step-by-step instructions for commissioning, limit setting and messaging to further speed installations. Standard light curtain and photo eyes are provided as standard to ensure safety.

When you need to lock down access to an area but have minimal headroom, the MicroCoil high performance compact gate is the perfect solution.

Usage

The MicroCoil Grille is engineered to handle at least 500,00 cycles (open/closes) at speeds of up to 24" per second.

Standard Materials & Finishes

The MicroCoil® Grille offers an open-air design for increased visibility and ventilation. Curtains are assembled with a minimum solid 5/16 diameter, 5056 H32 aluminum alloy sleeved with horizontal aluminum or stainless steel tube spacers to separate vertical links on alternate rods with continuous end tube spacers. The vertical spacing is 2.5" to 3.7" on center. Vertical chains are solid 1/8" minimum stainless steel links, 1/4 inch wide, positioned by aluminum or stainless steel tube spacers on 9 inch centers. Nylon insert nuts are threaded on to the end of each rod to secure the chains.

Pattern options include:

Extreme® Series Door Drive & Control System

This door features our first intelligent control panel - the Apex™ SmartController. It features:

• Plug-and-play connections between the motor, control panel, and standard sensors
• LCD screen that walks user through:
  • Initial door commissioning
  • Electrically set limits
  • Status and error messages
  • Many common door adjustments

This door also comes with a compact direct drive operator with no roller chains or sprockets and an internal inertia brake for safety. It is IP54 rated, which is equivalent to NEMA 3/3S.

Wind Load

Static Wind Load

Can be manufactured to withstand a static wind load of up to 40 psf. If wind load is not specified,the MicroCoil Grille will be manufactured to withstand a 20 ultimate wind load.

Operational Wind Load

Can be manufactured to withstand an operational wind load of up to 20psf.

Hood and Operator Covers

Metal cover to protect the coil or operator from exterior weather, debris or to meet OSHA or UL 325 safety requirements.

Powder Coating Grilles

Powder coat finish in more than 180 colors is available on perimeter components such as the aluminum bottom bar, hoods, wall angles, tubes and fascia.

Sloping Bottom Bar

CornellCookson's new low profile sloping bottom bar for the Extreme MicroCoil Grille and Extreme 300 Series High Performance Grille allows for a continuous uniform grille versus the traditional, bulkier pitch plates giving your opening a highly aesthetic, finished look.

Performance Upgrades

Vibration Isolator

Vibration Isolators effectively reduce the amount of vibration* caused by operation of doors and grilles.

*Vibration was reduced by14%+ on doors and grilles with vibration isolators installed compared to doors and grilles without the system

LED Visual Light Kit

The LED Light Kit provides a high-visible status indication for overhead doors and grilles. Designed for challenging environments like fire and emergency services, parking garages, and warehouses, the effective LED light strips limit downtime, maintenance, and repair costs.

Seismic Performance Validation

We can provide project specific seismic calculations for all coiling doors that are mounted Face of Wall to steel or masonry. Seismic performance validation is per ASCE 7-05.

Safety and Protection

Sensing Edge - Entrapment Protection Device

Designed with a flexible black rubber TPE material, our new sensing edge has two fins that conform to variations in the floor on both the interior and exterior of your door or grille ensuring a secure seal without requiring you to overset the bottom door limit. The sensing edge is easy to clean and remains free from rust and dirt stains, maintaining a fresh uniform appearance. With flexible 1" sealing fins, our sensing edges provide maximum protection while withstanding the elements.

Edges are tested and listed to UL 10B as a component of the rolling steel fire door assembly.

Entrapment Protection Devices

Entrapment protection devices ensure that a motorized door or grille will not close on an object. If an object enters path of closure, the entrapment protection device will stop the door or grille from closing and return it to the fully open position.

Monitored Protection, Even at High Speeds

UL 325-2010 (NEMA 4X) compliant photo eye sensors allow for momentary contact operation - useful in parking garages and other high use openings. Interruption of the photo eye beam before the door fully closes causes the door to immediately halt downward travel and reverse direction to return to the fully open position.

SafetyGard Light Curtain Technology

The 6’ tall light curtain is installed within the guide and blends into the guide construction. If the grille is cycling and an object passes through the curtain beams the door will immediately halt downward travel and reverse direction to return to the open position.

Repairability

Link Repair Kit

If a single link gets damaged, you do not have to replace an entire section of the grille curtain. Simply make note of the number that is etched on the vertical link, order a link repair kit for the number link that is damaged and repair it in the field. It is a simple process to remove a damaged link and use the snap-on repair link

Grille Section Replacement

If a whole section gets damaged, it's easy and hassle free to repair.
