ARDEX GS-4
Self-Leveling Repair Underlayment for Distressed Gypsum Floors

ARDEX GS-4 is a self-leveling underlayment to be used to re-smooth and repair a gypsum substrate that is otherwise unsuitable to receive new finish flooring.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ARDEX GS-4 is a self-leveling, no-troweling repair underlayment used for re-topping and repairing gypsum substrates above grade that are in need of repair prior to the installation of new floor covering.

When mixed with water, it produces a pourable or pumpable liquid compound that seeks its own level and produces a smooth, flat, hard surface.

RANGE OF APPLICATION
ARDEX GS-4 is intended for use as a remedial material for distressed gypsum subfloors that have suffered from natural degradation.  It can be installed from 1/4” up to virtually any thickness to achieve the desired flatness tolerance.

ARDEX GS-4 hardens and dries fast without shrinking, cracking or spalling.  It can be walked on after 3 hours and floor covering can be installed as soon as the underlayment has dried sufficiently to meet the floor covering manufacturer’s requirements. The drying time is a function of the thickness at which the material is applied.

NOTE:  Please be advised that ARDEX GS-4 has been formulated as a repair material for distressed gypsum floors under conditions where the owners or their representatives have made a decision not to remove and completely replace the gypsum with a more durable Portland cement-based material.

There are also conditions that develop on a jobsite that may require a section of the gypsum to be removed, completely exposing the original substrate. In such cases, installation of the ARDEX GS-4 should be performed in a manner consistent with the original installation, i.e. if the gypsum was originally installed over wood, concrete, ceramic tile, or over extruded polystyrene insulation, follow the installation instructions for ARDEX GS-4 under these conditions, to include the replacement of the insulation board as required.
