The Solution

Fixed Throat Kerfed CK Series Pre-finished Steel Frames

Problem #1
Fire rated door openings require a smoke gasket to meet the requirements of various codes. Adhesive applied smoke gaskets are often installed incorrectly by inexperienced installers and are expensive to replace at the end of their service life.

Solution
CK Kerfed frames are manufactured with factory installed fire rated smoke gasket. They are mitered and significantly lower in cost compare to adhesive applied smoke gaskets. They can be readily replaced without sanding, re-priming and painting required with adhesive applied gaskets.

Problem #2
Sound control for STC rated openings often use expensive gasketing systems which are not cost effective.

Solution
CK Kerfed frames provide improved sound reduction with no additional field labor for installation of components.

Problem #3
Exterior door openings using gaskets for air and water infiltration with costly screw on weatherstrip products are expensive, hard to install and unsightly.

Solution
CK Kerfed frames for exterior openings provide improved air and water infiltration resistance. They arrive at the jobsite with gaskets and casing color matched to pre-finished frame and ready for installation with door and hardware.

Problem #4
Light control from corridor to room entry is desired

Solution
CK Kerfed frames with standard Shlegel® QEBD500 kerf applied gaskets provide a full perimeter seal to help overcome inadequate sealing conditions caused by doors that are slightly warped

How are Timely CK Pre-finished Steel Frames Different?

Timely CK Series (18 Ga.) pre-finished; electro-galvanized steel frames have an integral kerf formed into the stop of the frame for secure installation of the smoke gasket. The foam filled gasket is factory mitered and installed in the frame assuring correct alignment and installation. Adhesive applied gaskets are installed at the jobsite increasing labor costs and the opportunity for incorrect installation resulting in poor operating performance. Factory installation of smoke gaskets on factory pre-finished frames provides both a cost effective installation and improved long term performance.
