Options for PVC Roofing, Thermoplastic Roof and more.
Sarnafil offers a number of high quality roofing systems to meet your needs.
In each system, there is a choice of membrane thickness, which ranges from
48 mils to 96 mils. Both our G series and S series membranes come in EnergySmart® white.
Sarnafil Express is a unique mechanically attached single ply system. Custom
orders for color and thickness are available. Our Décor Roof System
comes in six standard colors that replicate the color of traditional metals
as well as custom colors.
Below is an overview of our available systems and services:
- Adhered System (Including Feltback Adhered)
- Peel & Stick (Self-Adhering System)
- Sarnafast (Mechanically Attached System)
- Sarnafil Express (Double-weld Mechanically Attached System)
- Engineered (Mechanically Attached System)
- Décor Roof System (Alternative to Standing Seam
Metal)
- Waterproofing Systems (Five System Choices)
- Green Roof Systems (Vegetated)
Sarnafil also stands apart from the competition in our dedication to quality
installations. Only Sarnafil-approved applicators are permitted to buy and
install our roofing systems. To maintain our high standards, Sarnafil offers:
- Technical Assistance
- Applicator Training
- On-site Evaluations
- Material only
- Labor and material
- System
- Roof Management (call Sarnafil for more information)
This system is best for flat, odd shaped or pitched roof applications composed
of non-nailable substrates such as pre-cast or pre-stressed concrete, cementious
wood fiber or gypsum. It also works well over nailable substrates such as
concrete, steel and wood decks. Adhered systems add minimal weight to the
deck. The Sarnafil G series membrane offers exceptional dimensional stability
as well as a low coefficient of thermal expansion, further aiding in the
service life of the roof.
For rough surfaces, such as cellular concrete, Sarnafil offers an adhered
feltback system which has a pleasing appearance, exceptional high wind uplift
resistance and increased puncture resistance.
Sarnafil’s new Peel & Stick membrane provides the building owner
with the benefits of an adhered roofing system without the concern of disrupting
building operation during installation. Peel & Stick has no odors or volatile
organic compounds to bother building occupants and disrupt building operations.
It's perfect for hospitals, schools or any building where odors and VOC emissions
are a concern. And, because the adhesive is applied at the factory, you are
assured of consistent coverage. Peel & Stick saves time and improves rooftop
productivity allowing the roof to be completed and watertight sooner.
This mechanically attached disc system is your best choice when speed and ease
of installation are important. Mechanical attachment provides long service
life -- even under high wind uplift conditions. Sarnafil’s S327 membrane
is reinforced with polyester, giving it high breaking and tearing strength.
It also prevents excessive elongation and sheet deformation under the stresses
produced by the lifting of the membrane during high wind events.
Sarnafil Express is a unique mechanically attached single-ply system. Sarnafil
Express combines Sarnafil’s time-proven thermoplastic membrane with a
polymer batten (Sarnarail) and fasteners between two welds
in the membrane overlap. Fasteners are spaced according to wind uplift requirements.
A modified Sarnamatic hot-air welding machine creates a continuous weld on
both sides of the rails and fasteners.
Sarnafil’s engineered system uses Sarnabars and Sarnafasteners to ensure
membrane performance on those installations that are subject to severe or extreme
wind uplift forces, such as high rise buildings or facilities located in hurricane-prone
areas. Sarnafil’s technical assist the designer in calculating the spacings
for proper resistance to anticipated wind uplift conditions. In fact, Sarnafil
is so confident in this system that we provide wind speed limitations in our
warranties of up to 120 mph.
Sarnafil’s Décor roof systems provide the appearance of a metal
roof with the watertight security of Sarnafil membrane. The “profiles” replicate
the appearance of a metal rib. Two systems are available for both new and reproofing
projects: Décor Profile and Décor Batten. Both systems allow
the designer to space the profiles in any configuration, and are available
in six standard colors. Custom colors are also available.
- The Décor Profile system consists of a proprietary
Sarnafil polymer rib welded to the finished roof membrane.
- The Décor Batten is more than double the size of
the Décor Profile and is perfect for larger or elevated roofs, providing
an alternative design for more visual impact.
There are waterproofing systems available, each designed to protect below-grade
structures from the effects of water infiltration leading to structural deterioration
and interior water damage. The membrane is orange for easy inspection.
- Loose-Laid System is a membrane waterproofing system.
It is loose-laid and ideally suited for renovations of existing plaza decks,
particularly where surface coatings have been applied.
- Adhered System is a membrane waterproofing system. It
is adhered and ideally suited in applications where the substrate is clean,
dry and smooth. Lightweight concrete is acceptable.
- Grid System - Sarnafil’s most advanced waterproofing
system, combines the performance characteristics of an adhered system with
the ease of installation of a loose-laid system. This system consists of
Sarnafil membrane strips fully adhered to the substrate in a grid pattern.
The thermoplastic waterproofing membrane is loose-laid on a leveling layer
over the substrate and welded to the containment grid strip. The grid and
control system provides the means to effectively identify the location of
water entry, restrict the migration of moisture from one grid area to another,
and most importantly, minimize the amount of overburden to be removed if
leakage were to occur after installation.
There are two types of green roof applications that compliment Sarnafil's various
waterproofing systems:
- Extensive Green Roofs: The extensive roof system is designed
for lightweight overburden construction on flat roofs and sloped roofs less
than 45 degrees.
- Intensive Green Roofs: The intensive roof system is intended
for heavier landscape construction for flat roofs, decks, and landscape planters.
Sarnafil’s skilled technical team can help you or your designer select
the proper roofing or waterproofing system for your roof, whether it is new
construction or renovation. Understanding your building specifications,
including environmental, economic and aesthetic requirements, allows Sarnafil
to recommend the right system for your building. All solutions are reviewed
by our technical department prior to shipping material to ensure everything
meets Sarnafil high standards. To speak with a technical representative, please

The heart of the Sarnafil roofing system is our time tested thermoplastic membrane.
The same basic formulation that has been protecting buildings for over 38 years
is still in use today. But the truest test of a roofing membrane’s quality
and durability is its history of service. Sarnafil roofing membrane has been
installed on many well known stadiums, museums, churches and other important
buildings and has performed in all kinds of climates and conditions.
To become a Sarnafil-approved applicator, a roofing contractor must first receive
in-depth hands-on training at Sarnafil’s manufacturing plant in Canton,
Massachusetts. Sarnafil’s field technicians also provide ongoing instruction
at job sites, as required, to ensure application proficiency.
Sarnafil field technicians inspect every roofing installation prior to warranty
issuance. And, they often monitor progress as a job proceeds to ensure adherence
to Sarnafil’s high standards. Building owners are assured of an exceptional
roofing product and installation when they choose Sarnafil.
