GLASS RAILING

Wagner's architectural glass railing system provides a clean contemporary design that is used in office, retail and commercial applications. Most codes now require that railings not have any openings that would permit a 4" sphere to pass through. A picket railing meeting this requirement would appear "heavy". Glass railing offers an attractive alternative while still meeting safety requirements.

Historically the most common method of setting glass in shoe moulding is the wet glaze method. This method requires a "wet" filler of either quick setting expansion cement or silicone. Wagner carries all the appropriate tools and materials for this method of installation. However, the new GlassWedge® system provides a dry mount option that will reduce glass setting labor time by 50%.

Wagner glass railing features the revolutionary GlassWedge® Dry Mount System which provides the installer with a clean, simple method of setting tempered glass panels in our structural shoe molding.

Wagner's shoe molding is available in three styles and two hole configurations. Produced from extruded aluminum, 6063-T52 Alloy they may be anodized, painted or clad to match the top railing or area décor. They are available for ½" and ¾" glass in 10' and 20' lengths.

Shoe moulding may be surface mounted, fascia mounted or embedded in concrete. The shoe molding is the key to the structural integrity of any glass railing system. Proper attachment is extremely important. See the detail below for proper attachment options.

Handrail and Railing Caps for Glass Railing

Wagner handrail and railing cap sections are for mounting atop tempered glass, structural balusters used in the assembly of Glass Rail Systems. When mounted using our structural shoe moulding, Wagner Glass Rail Systems will meet established structural requirements when properly installed – structural data is available upon request.

We supply railing caps in aluminum, brass and stainless steel in several different finishes. They are round tube sections which have a channel on one side for mounting over tempered glass panels. They are stocked in 1-½" to 4" outside diameters. Other sizes are available on special order. Contact Wagner with your special needs.

Handrail brackets are available in aluminum, brass, bronze and stainless steel. If glass mounted brackets are required, the holes must be drilled in the glass prior to tempering. Attempts to drill or grind the glass after tempering will most likely cause breakage. Gaskets and bushings for mounting to the glass are provided with the brackets.

Wagner also supplies splices, end caps, and horizontal and vertical miter elbows for the handrail and railing caps.

Panel Mounting Clips

Panel mounting clips are used in the installation of railing infill panels. Clips are available for use with 1/4", 3/8", or 1/2" glass, mesh or solid panels.

Wagner offers the panel mounting clips available in brass with both a left and right hand stop to simplify panel installation. We also offer the GlassGrip in stainless steel and brass which is perfect for all guardrail applications requiring a 1/4" to 3/8" infill panels.

The GlassGrip tightening system utilizes solid rubber o-rings that hold the glass panels as they securely grip and prevent sliding. The optional pin fits through a pre-drilled hole in the glass for added support.
