CONCRETE INSERTS

Wedge Inserts

The wedge shaped inside surface of the insert in conjunction with the askew head bolt produces an automatic tightening action when a load is placed on the bolt. The wedge action reduces any slippage to a minimum.

Inserts: Malleable iron plain or hot dip galvanized.

Askew Head Bolts, Nuts & Washers: Plain or zinc plated (stainless steel available on special order).

Insert #380-D

The 380-D insert is a heavy malleable iron adjustable insert that is shipped complete with a nut that slides along an integral track.

Nuts are available for 1/2 in., 5/8 in. or 3/4 in. bolts

Loads Using One 3/4 in. Nut in Insert
Working load—4,000 lbs.
Ultimate load by tests—tension—9,700 lbs.
Ultimate load by tests—shear—13400 lbs.

Inserts: Plain or hot dip galvanized.

Square Nuts: Plain or zinc plated (stainless steel nuts available on special order).

Insert #380-E

This insert is an extra-heavy malleable iron casting which has been engineered to provide greater load capacities required by today's larger structural elements.

The 380-E insert is available with nuts for 7/8 in. or 1 in. diameter bolts.

Loads Using a 1 in. Nut in Insert

Working load—8,000 lbs.
Ultimate load by tests—tension—24,000 lbs.

Inserts: Plain or hot dip galvanized.

Square Nuts: Plain or zinc plated (stainless steel nuts available on special order).

Stainless Steel Insert #380-S

The 380-S insert is a welded insert manufactured from type 304 stainless steel plate.

The slot is 5 1/2 in. long and will provide up to 4 1/4 in. of adjustment.

The stainless steel nuts are available tapped for 1/4 in., 3/8 in., 1/2 in. or 3/4 in. diameter bolts, #380 stainless steel insert is recommended for use in corrosive environments where potential rust from an iron insert could bleed onto precast or stone facades.
