FLASHING
Copper Aqua-Flash
Description
A composite flexible flashing composed of a layer of polyester film
bonded to a solid sheet of soft tempered copper bonded to 32 mils of a
highly adhesive SBS modified bitumen (rubberized asphalt) with a removable
silicone coated liner. By encapsulating the copper in the film and the
rubberized asphalt, the copper is completely protected from any alkalis or
acids found in concrete or mortar. Copper Aqua Flash membrane can be
applied as part of a system which uses both Aqua Flash primer and mastic.
It may be applied to masonry, concrete, steel, wood and gypsum.
Features and Benefits
Copper Aqua Flash is self-adhering and self-sealing and offers excellent
puncture and abrasion resistance. It is designed to self-heal if damaged
slightly during installation since the adhesive system will elongate and
recover. It offers high temperature stability.
Model Specifications
Special Requirements: All material specified shall be delivered to the
jobsite in approved manufacturer's sealed containers bearing
manufacturer's name and material identification.
Preparation: All masonry and other surfaces receiving flashings should be reasonably smooth, free from loose material and completely dry. There shall be no slopes which would prevent the free flow of water to the exterior surface of the wall. All work shall be executed in conformance with accepted trade practices.
Materials
Flashings shall be Copper Aqua Flash consisting of 2, or 3 oz. copper
sheet laminated with film on one side and bonded to 32 mils of rubberized
asphalt for a total mil thickness respectively of 60 mils, and 70 mils.
Applications
Thru-wall flashing; concealed flashing; foundation sill flashing; base
flashing; spandrel flashing; head and sill flashing; parapet flashing.
Application Instructions
Copper Aqua Flash should be cut into manageable lengths approximately 8
to 10 ft. Remove release liner. Apply the membrane starting from the
lowest point and work upwards. Once membrane is in place, use a steel hand
roller to secure the flashing firmly in place. All side laps should be a
minumum of 2-1/2". Either trim edges or lay the membrane 1/2"
back from face of masonry. Inside and outside corners must be covered with
two layers of membrane and sealed with mastic. Once installed, no
maintenance is required. Not to be applied below 25°F. Not to be
applied below 30°F without a primer. Not to be applied to moist or
damp surfaces. Not to be used with oil based, wax or polysulfide sealants
or creosote. Not to be applied to areas where it will be exposed to
sunlight (heat) for extended periods. Check exterior caulking
compatability with manufacturer.
Storage
Temperature not to exceed 120°F, nor below 25°F. Membrane is to
be stored at temperature above 50°F. Protect products from inclement
weather or excessive heat.
Sizes
Standard widths: 12", 16", 18", 24", 36".
Standard length: 50 linear ft.
Masonry Thru-Wall Flashing FIBERWEB 200 & 300
Masonry Thru-Wall Flashing is a strong and durable membrane which remains flexible at extreme temperatures. It will not shrink or sag, and will resist accidental punctures during installation. FIBERWEB Thru-Wall Flashings are formable and can be folded to shape during installation.
Fiberweb 200-4102
A black laminate comprised of polyester film, 20 x10 fiberglass scrim and
a layer of vinyl film. FIBERWEB 200 was approved by the Army Corps of
Engineers under Guide Specification CEGS-07600. Fiberweb 200 has a total
average thickness of 8 mils.
Fiberweb 300-4103
A 1/3 mil metal foil laminate between layers of Mylar polyester scrim
reinforcement. FIBERWEB 300 has a total average thickness of 7 mils.
Both FIBERWEB 200 and 300 are packaged in 300 foot rolls and slit in different widths (12", 16", 18", 24", and 36").
Fiberweb Tape-4100
FIBERWEB tape is used to repair punctures in the flashing. Each 2"
wide roll contains 108 linear feet. The tape is made of the same material
as the FIBERWEB flashing.
