Overview

Privacy Wall moveable walls can provide private spaces that sustain individual and group work settings while offering the flexibility of adapting quickly and inexpensively to changing space requirements over time. Two Glass Wall Choices

1. The Privacy Wall product vocabulary includes a variety of framing configurations for glass and door frames.  The essential framing solutions are designed around steel rectilinear components that are factory painted. 

2. As an alternative, Privacy Wall Glass Selections includes factory glazed panels as well as an elegant butt glazed solution and a unique corner unit, all enclosed in an anodized aluminum frame that perfectly compliments Pathways Post and Beam.  Privacy Wall GS wall panels install and change just as simply as the essential Privacy Wall components.  Butt glazed panels are glazed on site.

Performance standard

Solid steel construction provides long-term durability and consistent noise control properties with an acoustical rating of 43 STC, exceeding conventional drywall.

Environmental sustainability

Privacy Wall contains 30% recycled material content, low emitting materials (no PVCs or VOCs) and generates no on-site off-gassing. It creates significantly less construction waste compared to traditional construction. And when it’s time to reconfigure, it’s 100% reusable. At the end of its long service life, the system is 90% recyclable. All reasons Privacy Wall will contribute to LEED^® certification credits.

Privacy Wall is manufactured in a facility that is ISO 14001 registered (the Environmental Management System Standard). These standards take into consideration the elimination of off-gassing in finished product, fuel conservation, recycling operations, volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), water conservation, and TTO emission in the manufacturing process.

Privacy Wall Specifications

Privacy Wall, manufactured by Steelcase Inc., is a moveable wall panel suitable for use with a raised or slab floor and a suspended ceiling. It consists of unitized wall panels, doors, frames, connectors, and power options. Privacy Wall is available in many standard widths (up to 12-feet), heights (up to 10-feet), and a variety of glass options. If needed, Privacy Wall solid panels can also be cut to size in the field. Aesthetic choices include steel (painted), vinyl, fabric, glass, glass with muntins, and wood veneer.

Wall units are 2-3/8-inches thick, have 2 1/2-inches of vertical adjustment and integral slotting on 1-inch centers for mounting worksurfaces and storage components. Units also have an integral screw leveling capability that is concealed behind a removable steel base. Solid wall units weigh no more than 4.6-pounds per square foot. The system is installed to the underside of a suspended ceiling without the use of destructive fasteners.

Wall unit intersections are non-progressive, connected with a painted feature strip holding the units continuously together without clips. The wall system is installed on top of the finished floor, raised flooring, or carpeted flooring without the use of floor fasteners.

To minimize inventory, pivot doors and frames are designed to be non-handed. They can be either right-handed or left-handed swinging and can be changed between the two. Other options include traditional butt hinged doors and self-supporting sliding doors.

Specialty Glass

Our strategic alliance with Bendheim, the largest provider of specialty glass in North America, provides an expansive glass offering. Nine glass types have been carefully selected and “graded in” to simplify the ordering process. The nine glass types offer a broad range of privacy from thinly veiled to completely private. The use of Bendheim glass transforms spaces and allows the designer to establish the desired sense of privacy.

Compliance

Privacy Wall is compliant with national, state, and local building codes.

• Solid wall units will support a maximum load of 750-pounds per side in compliance with ANSI/BIFMA X5.6 – 1986
• Solid wall units have a Class-A rating in accordance with ASTM E84-97a “Standard Method for Surface Characteristics of Building Materials”.
• Wall system is in compliance with ASTM E 72 “Standard Test Methods of Conducting Strength Tests of Panels for Building Construction”.
• Solid wall units are available with a 43 STC in accordance with ASTM E 90-90 “Method for Laboratory Measurements of Airborne Sound Transmission Loss of Building Partitions”.
• Privacy Wall modular power system is UL 183 listed.
