ADEKA Walls

ADEKA is a pre-formed VM ZINC® shingle product that allows rapid installation. The tiles are installed with a 2" overlap. Polystyrene bonded to the underside provides increased sound insulation from rain and hail. It can also be used as a roof element.

ADEKA elements are installed quickly and easily, starting from the bottom and working up, using three screws in pre-drilled rimmed holes. The bottom row is held in place with a locking key fitted adjacent ADEKA elements.

With ADEKA designers can create a striking tile effect utilizing the natural grey color of zinc without having to resort to artificially colored metals. It is available in both surface aspects, QUARTZ ZINC® and ANTHRA ZINC®.

VM DEXTER ZINC Walls

VM DEXTER ZINC walls are a standing seam shingle made from VM ZINC®. It will enable the contractor to quickly install a façade that looks like a standing seam with either aligned or staggered joints.

The fasteners are included in the handy boxes Umicore packs the VM DEXTER ZINC in. This way the contractor needs little skills and tools to install this system. You should see that in the installed price.

Three panels cover 10sqft. VM ZINC DEXTER is available in QUARTZ ZINC® and ANTHRA ZINC®, thanks to its size and fasteners VM DEXTER ZINC is able to withstand heavy wind-loads. On a wall Umicore recommends to install VM ZINC DEXTER over vapor-open slip-sheet/membrane and ¾" plywood.

Flat Lock (FL) Panels

Umicore’s Flat Lock Panels offer a simple yet elegant cladding solution that provides a longitudinal flat seam. The system uses a simple fold interlock on all four sides and can be installed in either horizontal or vertical orientations.

This solution is suitable for all buildings up to 100’ (30m). The pre-formed panels are easy to install and are available in both QUARTZ ZINC® and ANTHRA ZINC®.

Interlocking (IL) Wall Panels

Interlocking Panels are a Tongue-and-groove system with concealed fasteners. This panel system can be oriented either horizontally or vertically. Up to a length of 10 feet it can be through-fastened, above that the Umicore sliding clip must be utilized.

The maximum width of this system is 12 inches on center, it is installed top down. Umicore recommends using this system for buildings with a height of up to 100 feet. When the ends of the panel are exposed, it is recommended to fold the ends closed.

IL panels offer an interesting design feature. Since the reveal can be designed between 1/4" minimum and 3/4" maximum. The designer has the opportunity to alter reveals which gives the impression of different size panels or different size lines over the wall.

You can specify IL-Panels in QUARTZ ZINC® and in ANTHRA ZINC®.

Standing Seam for Walls

For facades, we recommend single lock standing seams primarily for issues concerning shadow pattern and seam straightness. Double lock standing seams may be subject to waviness due to the inherent seaming process which may waiver along the seam length. For the same reason we recommend 0.8mm or 0.032" thick zinc.

Cladding walls in this system is a very traditional technique. The Single Lock (also known as Angle Lock) gives the cladding a taut and regular look.

VM ZINC® has a theoretical thermal expansion coefficient of 1/4"/10ft over a 212ºF temperature change (2.2 mm/mm for 100ºC change).

Correct management of expansion and contraction coefficient of the material depends on the proper choice of the clips (fixed and sliding) and their correct positioning, as well as the maximum lengths of the sheets and long strips.

An optimal panel length is 12' (3.7m) when considering the effects of expansion and contraction. While panels of greater length are possible, one must consider panel aesthetics and handling difficult when specifying a longer panel length.

Cassettes

If not used as an Engineered Architectural Rainscreen, cassettes are a relatively simple angular shaped wall panel. Cassettes can have visible or concealed fasteners; with visible fasteners they give the wall a more industrial look. Cassettes are a break-formed product, flatness of the panel is usually an issue, which is why Umicore request to discuss sizes and metal thickness as early in design as possible.
