PRODUCT PRESENTATION
Englert LeafGuard is a new and revolutionary leaf-shedding gutter
system for residential applications. It represents the first significant
advance in one-piece rain carrying systems in decades, and promises to
provide architectural style and unmatched performance in rain carrying
systems to single and multi-family homes in the 90s and beyond.
Englert LeafGuard features a continually rollformed one-piece gutter,
consisting of a shield, back support wall and a trough, all integrally
designed as a one-piece gutter. The shield is comprised of a double
convolute curve, extending from the back wall out and over the trough. The
gutter system is fastened to the structure (fascia) by specially designed
brackets (support systems) securing the back wall. It is designed to
collect water, yet reject wind-blown debris, such as leaves, pine cones,
and twigs, which are typically carried into conventional gutters by rain
water. By design, rainwater follows the hoods, curvatures through
electromagnetic attraction normally found in the atmosphere. Leaves and
debris continue past the gutter and off the building. Small debris, such
as pine needles, roofing granules, etc., that may follow the flow of the
water into the gutter will wash through the system unobstructed by larger
clogging material.
SPECIFICATIONS
I. Englert LeafGuard has been tested for up to 21" of simulated
rainfall per hour. Under such conditions, which are almost non-existent
anywhere in the world, water still carries into the trough without
overshooting the gutter. The small trough design only carries the
equivalent of three (3) pounds of water per foot, as opposed to standard
gutters carrying up to eight (8) pounds per foot, which when compounded by
snow and ice build up can triple in weight, often damaging the system.
A. Gutters shall be seamless and continuous, with no end laps, rollformed
out of 3105-H24 aluminum alloy, (minimum tensile strength 26,000 psi,
minimum yield strength 25,000 psi) or equivalent.
B. Gutter gauges shall be .032" or .027" (select one as needed)
gauge nominal, with 3" x 4" or 2" x 3" (select one)
downspouts, [leaders] in .019" gauge.
C. End caps shall be .027" gauge.
D. Inside and outside miters shall be .027" gauge.
E. Downspouts anchors shall be aluminum.
F. Gutter hangers shall be specially designed support brackets installed
at 24" o.c. maximum.
II. Prior to painting, the metal shall receive a pre-treatment to assure
for maximum paint adhesion. The exterior finish shall be CastleClad, two
coat system applied in a continuous baked on process in a single
operation, comprising an acid based primer and a baked on high performance
linear polyester topcoat. The inside of the gutter shall be finished with
a polyester backer or wash coat. All exposed accessories used with the
Englert LeafGuard Gutter System shall have the same CastleClad finish as
the gutters.
III. The Englert LeafGuard Rain Carrying Systems shall meet the following
specifications and/or Code approvals:
A. American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA)
Specification 105.1 "Specification for Aluminum Rain Carrying
Systems."
B. FHA Minimum Property Standard 4900.1 for One and Two-Family Dwellings.
C. FHA Minimum Property Standard 4910.1 for Multi-Family Dwellings.
