Innovative Solutions To Door Control

LCN sets industry standards for quality, durability and innovation in premium door closers. Founded in 1926, LCN became a division of Ingersoll-Rand in 1974 and today offers a broad line of products, including heavy-duty closers for interior and exterior doors, with fire/life safety closers/holders and high security manual closers available in most configurations. LCN also provides power operators and closers for use by people with physical challenges. These innovative door closers offer a wide range of applications in schools, healthcare facilities, sports arenas, government and commercial settings.

LCN Quality
LCN is committed to providing the best door closers in the world. In addition to the mechanical advantages derived from proven designs, much of the durability of the closer and arm system is directly related to the materials used in their manufacture.

Precision machined cast iron cylinders and forged steel pistons work together because of the compatibility of their basic elements. Heat-treated pinions and pistons spread the load over a large gear tooth system to better handle the wear and stress of millions of operating cycles. Upper and lower pinion bearings provide the support and load capacity required by the design of the closer. Heavy-duty closers utilize a unique double slab pinion to arm attachment, the strongest in the industry. All weather fluid eliminates the need for seasonal adjustments.

Forged steel main arms are superior to stamped steel arms used on closers where price is the primary concern. Specially designed shoe and elbow joints provide maintenance free service. A state-of-the-art, powder coat process delivers a high quality, corrosion resistant finish on all metal parts in popular architectural finishes.

LCN always uses the best materials available to provide the exceptional value and long service life that you, our customer, have every right to expect.

LCN Finishes
The finest closers in the world feature the finest state-of-the-art metal finishing process available.

LCN closers and power operators are available in 7 standard or over 180 custom powder coated finishes.

Custom Finishes allow designers to match door, frame and hardware finishes. Available at an additional charge – minimum quantities apply – call LCN for information.

Powder coating provides superior protection against the effects of weathering and is an environmentally friendly process. The high quality, chip resistant finish is far superior to any previously offered. Corrosion resistance surpasses 100 hours salt spray testing (four times the industry standard), a level previously attainable only with top coated, two part epoxy based primers. Non-metallic components and fasteners also provide the same high resistance to the effects of the elements. This representation is an approximation of standard LCN finishes.

Optional Rust Inhibiting SRI Pretreatment
Specify LCN SRI Pretreatment when powder coated closers are installed in high humidity or potentially corrosive installations, like swimming pools, water treatment facilities or near large bodies of water. Metal components receive an SRI pretreatment and an applied finish coat. Closers with SRI closely match the appearance of standard LCN powder coated finishes. The SRI process exceeds the protection level available with standard LCN applied finishes. For details, contact LCN.

Optional Plated Finishes
Visible components such as covers, arms, fasteners, and finish plates are plated to match the selected finish. Tracks are painted to complement the plated finish. Hidden assemblies such as cylinders and mounting plates are supplied with a powder coated finish. Plated finishes are available at additional cost. LCN plated finishes are:

  • US 3 Bright Brass (BHMA 605)
  • US 4 Satin Brass (BHMA 606)
  • US 9 Bright Bronze (BHMA 611)
  • US 10 Satin Bronze (BHMA 612)
  • US 10B Oxidized Satin Bronze (BHMA 613)
  • US 14 Bright Nickel (BHMA 618)
  • US 15 Satin Nickel (BHMA 619)
  • US 19 Satin Black (BHMA 622)
  • US 20 Oxidized Bright Bronze (BHMA 623)
  • US 26 Bright Chrome (BHMA 625)
  • US 26D Satin Chrome (BHMA 626)

Positive Pressure Fire Test
Wherever UBC 7.2 is enforced, doors, frames and hardware must pass the new Positive Pressure fire test. Eventually, UBC 7.2 will be adopted by all states, but in the meantime, specifying products that meet positive pressure requirements gives your jobs an added measure of safety.

Customized Products
