DEX-O-TEX WEATHERWEAR
Promenade Roof Deck Surfacing

1.) PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A) Composition
Dex-O-Tex Weatherwear promenade roof deck covering is a multi-layered, troweled application. It is designed for use as a waterproof roof surface on sun decks, play roofs, observation decks, etc., which are subject to normal foot traffic, roof furniture and rubber-tired, window-washing rigs.

The material is applied in a series of troweled coatings which form, successively, an elastic latex membrane, an integral composition flashing, and a flexible rubber-cement traffic surface. A unique "slip-sheet" divorces the Dex-O-Tex application from the surface it covers and permits it to "float" over normal building cracks and movement.

Dex-O-Tex Weatherwear components are all individual combinations of liquid rubber latex polymers incorporating dehydrating powders, vulcanizers, and special aggregates.

The total thickness of the material is 3/16" - 1/4" (4,7 mm - 6,35 mm). It can be applied over plywood or concrete. After suitable preparation, it may be installed over existing promenade surfaces of various types, such as quarry tile, flagstone, etc. When applied over plywood in cold climates, a direct bond application may be substituted for the slip-sheet feature. Consult Crossfield Products Corp. for recommendations.

Dex-O-Tex Weatherwear is available in a wide range of standard colors.

Dex-O-Tex Weatherwear is fire-retardant and is approved as such by the following agencies:

International Conference of
Building Officials, Class A
Fire Retardant Roof Covering,

Listing No. 4175-291:1

2.) PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND TECHNICAL DATA

See table on this screen.

3.) INSTALLATION

A) Over dry, suitably-pitched sub-surfaces, apply Dex-O-Tex slip-sheet. Coat top of slip-sheet with Dex-O-Tex bonding coat.
B) Apply elastomeric rubber composition membrane with fabric reinforcement.
C) Apply Dex-O-Tex integral flashing of similar construction to above.
D) Apply two trowel coats of liquid rubber and aggregate composition traffic surfacing over entire deck. Sand to remove trowel ridges.
E) Apply two grout-smoothing coats of rubber-cement composition to smooth surface.
F) Roller apply two coats of surface dressing to achieve uniform surface.

For Substrate Preparation: See Dex-O-Tex Weatherwear Architectural Information Sheet and Dex-O-Tex Weatherwear Detail Drawings for particulars. Generally, all surfaces must be clean, dry, firm and pitched for drainage (minimum 1/8" per foot).

Note: Special Dex-O-Tex Drains are available from most major drain manufacturers. These should be used in conjunction with Dex-O-Tex Weatherwear. Consult Crossfield Products Corp. for current listings and plumbing roughings.
